Proust, Trump’s words of yesterday cannot be sanely contextualized. At least yesterday, he proved that he is simply not truly committed to stopping our descent into Third Worldism.
I am furious. Too many supporters are covering for him, IMO, and pretending that they didn’t hear what he said.
I heard what he said and contexualize it as negotiation talk. We got to see how the sausage is made and no one liked it. If he literally would sign anything the meeting would have been 1 minute long instead of an hour and the signing would take place tomorrow. Talk is cheap.
Trump is a pragmatist, not an idealist. He will absolutely compromise in an effort to get the best deal he can. He will give on the DACA issue because we have already shelled out a ton of money educating them and because 85% of the public are for them. It is what it is, and before the San Francisco judge intervened and deprived the POTUS of this as a negotiating lever he was working on ending chain migration and building the wall.
You are not alone.
And if you watched the video, Trump pretty much labeled us immigration hawks as "far right".
This is not a promise that is being kept and it will lead to not only huge losses in 2020, probably a complete loss to the dems as states convert to blue with dacas. Then maybe civil war 2.
I don't know what happened but Trump in that meeting is not the man I voted for. Cue all the "oh this is a deep strategy" comments....but how do you get past him saying he will sign whatever they bring him on daca?
Too many supporters are covering for him, IMO, and pretending that they didnt hear what he said.

This “Bill of Love” stuff was just pure nonsense. Sounds like something a liberal would dream up.
Immigration has nothing to do with love in any context; that is not the basis or criteria for allowing people to enter this country.
I agree with you. This was a significant blunder. Regardless of how much we may like Trump, we have to be honest with ourselves and admit counterproductive statements when we see them.
