EILAT, Israel — The founders of the controversial opposition research firm Fusion GPS admitted that they helped the researcher hired to compile the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump to share the document with Sen. John McCain.
The goal of providing the dossier to McCain, the Fusion GPS founders explained, was to pass the information contained in the questionable document to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration.

And, also, were the FBI gumshoes inclined to already start nosing around on Trump as early as when what became the “dossier” was first known as ordinary “oppo research”, under Sanger, I wonder?
I’m curious to what degree, if any, that the FBI might have been active even during the Republican nomination fight.
Comey, as I recall, never wanted to clarify the question of when the FBI initially possessed the dossier (at least not in his last open hearing) nor did he want confirm that the FBI at some point reportedly did pay for part of the work on the dossier, in the name of doing an investigation.

I think they were trying to put more buffers between Hillary and the dossier. McCain’s associated with the dossier, and then they can reveal that the RNC originally hired Steele/Fusion, and hope the digging stops there and any investigation backfires on the Republicans.
They already had the dossier.
The only reason McCain was given a copy was either because he was willing to pay for it and/or to provide cover for the “skinny team” in the FBI to draw attention away from them as initiators.

They did not want Fusion’s bank records exposed, either. Thus the reason for McCain was to make everyone assume he paid for the Russian intel and not the Clinton Campaign and DNC.
