SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in credited U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday for helping to spark the first inter-Korean talks in more than two years, and warned that Pyongyang would face stronger sanctions if provocations continued.
The talks were held on Tuesday on the South Korean side of the demilitarized zone, which has divided the two Koreas since 1953, after a prolonged period of tension on the Korean peninsula over the Norths missile and nuclear programs.
North Korea ramped up its missile launches last year and also conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test, resulting in stronger international sanctions. Tuesdays talks, the first since December 2015, were held to resolve problems, revive military consultations, and avert accidental conflict.

The media is stupid and they deliberately mislead the public.
Oh, my. What will Joe and Mika do with this news??? Stay tuned if they ever cover it. LOL!
They who oh so knowingly declare Trump to be more insane than Rocket Boy.
Nothing is going to make those friends see the light. Even a roaring economy will not make them realize that they have underestimated The Donald.
Very true.
The media is stupid and they deliberately mislead the public.

They sure are. I was very disappointed in Tucker’s program tonight, where he kept going on about how the Trump we saw today in the meeting was so different from the one on the campaign trail . . . nonsense. He’s utterly failed to understand that Trump is a master negotiator and instead took every word that Trump said literally instead of as a bargaining position. He played everyone in that room brilliantly, including the press, and utterly destroyed that “Trump has no idea how to lead!” nonsense from that slug’s book. It’s been a GREAT day for our President, and it’s sad to see the so-called “conservative” media report it as anything other than that. Ah, well, at least Rush seemed to immediately comprehend what Trump was doing today - I guess that’s something (didn’t see Hannity).
Amen
Would be shame if their next nuke test missile somehow went into Pyongyang.
Not according to that dweeb who looked like he was fighting when he was on Laura Ingrahm tonight.
What will Joe and Mika do with this news?
Ignore it, probably.
A big chunk of how the MSM biases their broadcasts is by how they choose what they do NOT report.
That was before his recent "bigger button" comment.
Good cop, bad cop.
It was immediately evident that when S. Korea did NOT howl with dismay at Pres. Trump’s comments about NK, cooperation between us and S. Korea was likely in play. (I recall seeing a little yapping for local consumption, but IIRC that was about it.)
While some ship-to-ship transfers of petroleum products have occurred, the best information is that imports to N. Korea have slowed: No modern or semi-modern military can run for long without petrol... Notably, the South Koreans have been in the forefront of detaining some of those illegal transfer ships. (Good cop/bad cop + bad cop?... with the Chinese involved both ways, or maybe 3 or 4 ways, too.)
Whether this will “work” on the Norks, and whether the South will stay firm, I do not know. It is surely a long shot, but it seems worth it to me.
The South Koreans are pretty capable, but I do not see how we can fail to help reduce the damage to Seoul if hostilities break out. In that event, we will definitely lose some of our people.
Being tough makes them talk, being weak makes them sht on your face. Obama wanted to give more like to the Iranians, and it was an onslaught and direct attack during his tenure... or alternatively he used Iran to make his personal war on America because he is a weak devilish homosexual coward, instigating crap.
There's gotta be some generals, or SOMEONE in Kim's inner-circle that is thinking it's time to turn the page. I predict Kim will either step down or get assassinated by 2020, and Korea reunites by 2025.
Winning.
Even though Moon’s political party is left-leaning and somewhat anti-American. Excellent, President Trump! Outstanding!
Diplomacy through strength.
Amen!
Ping!
I find this talk of 'winning' very amusing. They are laying low and trying to play nice on the surface. But under the surface, they are trying so hard to tear down all barriers erected to block appeasement with so many different ways. Trump is breathing down their neck with big stick of economic retaliation if they stray too far.
This is a well-known tactical move by N. Koreans. They have done it before. My feeling is that Trump may be dismayed to see Moon and his people always creating a crack in an united front.
