In an odd twist, fellow hosts of CBS This Morning turned to their colleague Gayle King famous friend of Oprah Winfrey for an interview Tuesday about whether her pal would run for president.
If a Winfrey candidacy moves beyond idle chatter, one of the leading figures on a CBS News show that prides itself on hard-nosed journalism would have a conflict of interest on a major story.
King attended the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday and said on CBS This Morning that she spent several hours with Winfrey after the speech that fueled political speculation. King said her friend is intrigued by the idea of a candidacy, but didnt think she was actively considering it.
CBS Norah ODonnell and Jeff Glor considered Kings close relationship with Winfrey such common knowledge that they didnt even explain it before asking questions on Tuesdays show. The two women have been good friends since they both worked at a Baltimore television station in their early 20s.
Watching the interview was weird, CNNs Dana Bash said on that network about an hour later.
If the candidacy becomes real, Gayles gotta leave, responded CNNs morning host, Chris Cuomo.

The useless and jobless Stedman spilled the beans on this. oops
Now they are walking this back
Noticed how they claim Stedman misspoke?
HAHA
Way too soon to announce, dumb move if she was serious
Winfrey doesn’t need the aggravation and step-down from her lavish lifestyle that an actual run would entail. Trump didn’t either, but he had a “higher calling”. For Winfrey it would just be an ego trip. Not going to happen.
What are the moonbats saying? CBS might lose it’s street cred with their viewer?
BWWWAAAAHHHH!
ABC kept Stephanopoulos during the 2016 campaign, even though he used to work for the Clintons and gave a lot of money to Hillary's campaign.
Everyone knows the MSM's claims of objectivity are a joke.
Please run !! Oh God let it be . Can you imagine her in a debate with Trump. She is a clown. Total air head. Nothing going for her but race baiting. What a belly laugh joke she would be. She would lose every state. All of them. Please run!!
I don’t see how a conflict of interest could possibly arise in a #FakeNews organization.
Sounds like an oxymoron.
She would get less than 1% of the male vote.
And so does nbc. For the stupid tweet.
And so does abc. For hosting her show for years.
