No Oprah! Haven’t we learned our lesson with celebrity candidates?
NY Post ^ | Jan 08, 2018 | Maureen Callahan

Have we learned nothing?

One speech at the Golden Globes — admittedly a barn-burner — and here comes the drumbeat for a billionaire celebrity with no governing experience to run for president.

“I’m on the bus with Oprah,” Jimmy Kimmel said.

“She’s running,” tweeted former “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom Jr. “A new day is on the way.”

Even a major network endorsed her. “Nothing but respect for OUR future president,” read a tweet on NBC’s verified account (since deleted).

Oprah, who until Sunday night insisted she would never run for president — “I will never run for public office,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in October — is apparently having second thoughts.

“It’s up to the people,’” her partner Stedman Graham told the L.A. Times. “She would absolutely do it.”

She should absolutely not.

Yes, Winfrey is a singular presence in the culture. She is entirely self-made and a decades-long mover in television, film, publishing and philanthropy. As of 2017, she was one of only two women on Forbes’s Black Female Billionaires list. There is much to admire.

But none of this makes her fit to be leader of the free world. And just because the precedent has been set with Trump — to horrible effect — doesn’t mean the Democrats should run a charismatic celebrity with zero credentials. Not Tom Hanks, not The Rock, not Oprah Winfrey.

If this sobering year has taught us anything, it’s that experience, intellect and stability, while hardly electrifying, should matter. A run for the White House should never again resemble a reality show. If the Democrats want to run as the adults in the room, they should lose their starstruck notions of President Oprah — who, through decades of public life, has revealed a startling level of gullibility and greed.

... And just because the precedent has been set with Trump — to horrible effect...

The “horrible effect” for the Democrats was the massive loss of power and the resulting mental psychosis they now suffer from.

I’m reading from this that the left thinks that Trump only won because they think that slack-jawed yokels in flyover-country saw a celebrity running for president and they think they can turn it back on us. ‘Look! Here’s another celebrity! She gives people cars!’

Sure. Run with that. It’ll be 1984 all over again.

Oprah as President makes my skin crawl. But why would it be any stupider for her to run than Trump? They are both billionaires with no prior political experience.

Orka Whinny-free is the perfect demonrat candidate, black enough to be a unquestioned racist.

Why?
Oprah is black
Oprah is a woman
Oprah is hollywood, not Wharton

President Trump was respected and admired for his business sense. Being a celebrity (which he was BECAUSE of his vast empire first) was just icing on the cake. I almost feel like he did the tv thing to amuse himself.

IMO, We haven’t seemed to learned from electing the eggheads of ‘higher learned’ that’ve run our Republic into the ground.

Meets all the Con. criteria, myself, I find it refreshing that NON-eggheads are seeing higher office. Balance a checkbook? You’re already better than 99% of the politicians.

It’s easy to see why Oprah’s speech is called astounding, masterful, empowering and inspiring and even compared with the Gettysburg address by liberals.
Even mushy headed thinkers like Ivanka Trump are heaping praise on her.

She became their Black Preacher chastising them, dishing out guilt and atonement in a five minute sermon.
And they loved her for it.

What was masterful is the way she changed the real dynamic from outrage over sexual predators to white guilt over skin color.
What does black history as seen by blacks have to do with sexual abuse?
Oprah explained it to them.

She compared sexual predation to racism, pumped up liberal white guilt, fed their anti-white racism, then explained to them why their roles
as enablers of sexual predators made them victims too.
Then she called them “magnificent” and “phenomenal”.

She explained why leftists are not culpable for the sexual predation they enabled or overlooked (ie: Bill Clinton, Harvey Weissman).

After all - the time wasn’t right to deal with the issue.
So they are victims of the culture just as much as the real victims.
But now, in the era of Donald Trump it is time to realize sexual predation is wrong and it is okay to speak out on the issue.
They no longer have to carry the heavy burden of remaining silent.

And now that the time is right they are such wonderful, brave people for understanding that.
And now it is okay to admit that yes, they do know there is a right and a wrong.

She blamed white American culture and non-liberals for the environment that enabled racism and sexual predation.
Then told her audience and other liberals the mere fact they cared, accepted their guilt are good people was atonement enough for them.

And the women in the audience sat there with their boobs hanging out and their lady parts all but visible and cheered and wept.
Oprah knew they were imperfect but innocent and she still loved them.
And now they loved her.

I prefer who has never worked a real job to oversee us.
Someone with a degree in poli sci or law that they earned at Global Warming University?
Hopefully, someone who repeats the same mistakes, over and over, because they keep applying Marxism or Sharia law to a constitutional republic?
You know like obozo.
Although, most anyone with the ability to fib could be the democrat president.
Just follow the formula.
Your handlers will mostly guide you through the process.
Don’t worry if you stray and say something crazy, or the truth, because the msm and Holllywood has got your back.

Oprah would be a disaster for America but not because she has celebrity.

I never had much of an opinion about the Swinestein scandal, and figured it was just a “Hollywood” thing and these women pretty much knew what they were getting into, but now I truly hope that a lengthy prison term is in that effing pig's future. And Oprah the madam facilitating the transaction is equally nausea inducing and should, in a sane world, put the immediate brakes on any political aspirations she might be entertaining.

Yes, but famous Satan worshippers are no more or less important than the regular kind. Besides, fame is fleeting and can turn into infamy. Then you’re just infamous for being infamous, like Paris Hilton. Or Andy Warhol.

I figured the Swinestein scandal was just a “Hollywood” thing and these women pretty much knew what they were getting into....

It's easy to confuse the two issue.....

(1) yes, some starlets knew the casting couch was the way to stardom and willingly got on the couch.

(2) the more naive types did not know....and when confronted with Harvey-types, they refused.
They got forced into sex.....that's a crime of sexual assault.

She will run as long as SOROS provides the cash... Actually-he can buy the WH, thanks to Liberal stupidity, greed, infantile preference FOR and idolatry OF Hollywood bimbos and other ‘social debris’ THEY regard as ‘eligible’ and worthy

Understand, when “O” was nominated and elected... all the rules and requirements went out the window. THOSE days are over.

Fortunately for Conservatives, WE capitalized on this sea change and put our NON-DC guy in the WH...

Will we be so lucky again? I hope so. Trump’s record has to speak for itself and it has to stand in dramatic and very obvious opposition to Liberal lies and misrepresentation about his administration. No President has EVER been held to such a rigorous standard. Every move is being watched and analyzed.

He MUST succeed and BE SEEN to succeed. Numbers do not lie and basic social and economic improvements can’t be hidden.
