Indeed. I’m not quite old enough to remember this sort of thing about Nixon. Certainly the Left hated Nixon. The Left worked for many years to take Nixon down. There was no ambivalence there.
But I am not sure there was quite this type of vitriol.
“He stole the election.”
“He’s working with our enemies.”
“He’s crazy.”
“He’s unfit.”
“He has dementia.”
“He’s Hitler.”
The hatred of Trump is not rational at all. I’m not sure any other President has ever been hated quite so much for so little actual reason.
Definitely a spiritual dimension to this hatred.
