It is not just the U.S. supporting this recognition.
The defeat of ISIS in Syria came at a high price in lives of Kurds, Arabs and Assyrians who actually fought the battles with our support. That must not be lost after ISIS's defeat, by entering another open conflict.
It is clear that the US and Russia both want stability to return.
