People, for the most part, are passive. People tend to go with the flow and obey authority. That was demonstrated clearly when, for example, Jewish people passively went to the concentration camps. But there are always some people in any population who will not be passive. So, to stick with the WWII examples, this is why the Polish ghetto held out.
We are, I believe, still in the early days of a massive push back against the Left. It is disorganized and unfocused, but it is unmistakable. It is what led to Trump's election. The Left senses it, which is the real reason they are using all their (old) tricks to try to bring him down. But they are miscalculating badly, because Trump is the effect, not the cause. If they succeed in bringing him down, that will just move more anti-Left people to fight back one way or another.
