Pretty much all of what they teach you can learn by yourself. Just be sure to get a library card and use it often.
Your incident you cite is just the tip of the iceberg.
The MLA became a focus of Leftist Wet Dreams over much of the last 50 years, since the late sixties as I recall. It has been a joke of an organization for all that time.
Since the sixties, the Leftists and counter-culture mavins of all universities have had to have a place to rally and this poor vestige of an academic association has been the rally point.
I hate when ‘news sites’ get the headlines wrong.
Let me help here - this is what it should read:
“Dozens of MLA members quit because their organization refuses to call for the Extermination of Jews in the Middle East”
Much better...
The anti-semites are lost in their own little world. Good riddance.
How did the organization refuse their demands in the frst place? That’s unusual courage for an academic organization.
They live in an alternate reality.
As Scott Adams would say, they are seeing in an entirely different movie in their minds.
Thanks MarvinStinson.
Julie Rak, a professor of English at Canada's University of Alberta... claimed the anti-BDS members "received funding from the Government of Israel... and David Palumbo-Liu, an endowed professor of comparative literature at Stanford University, said they had been elected on platforms highlighting BDS... A leader in the MLA's anti-BDS movement, Cary Nelsonjubilee professor of liberal arts and sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and former president of the American Association of University Professorssaid Palumbo-Liu "lies" about running on a boycott platform. "He claimed he was running on behalf of grad students," recalled Nelson of Palumbo-Liu's campaign. Nelson suggested Palumbo-Liu acted prior to his executive appointment in the same way that boycott activists at the American Studies Association had allegedly hidden their anti-Israel associations in order to gain leadership positions ahead of that professional organization's successful pro-BDS vote in 2013.
Cynthia, you are either a hypocrite or historically ignorant.
Islamic colonialism pre-exists European colonialism and is/was far more violent.
Prior to Islam marching out of the Arabian desert all of North Africa was Christian or Jewish. Then came the Islamic bandits that murdered and raped its way across North Africa and in to Southern Europe. Spreading Islam by the sword. Taking slaves and murdering all males over six years old.
So, if you are to be true to your words and stated ideals the Israeli homeland would take historical and moral precedence over the Palestinian homeland (which never existed).
If you are against murder, rape and slavery you must be against Islam. If you are feminist you must be against Islam. If you are pro-democracy you must be against Islam. If you are pro religious freedom you must be against Islam.
Make up your mind do stand by your words or are you just anti-Semitic.
You’re not kidding. Why spend or borrow tens of thousands of dollars every year for yourself or your children to be “educated” by leftist racists like this! There are so many examples of great people throughout history who self taught themselves the skills needed to succeed!
Clearer...Thanks!
Like getting into a fist fight with Tar Baby. Don’t even think about it.
Most humanities PhDs do not get jobs as humanities professors because supply greatly exceeds demand.
“The anti-semites are lost in their own little world. Good riddance.”
If they are anti-semites, how do you square that with the fact that any number of them are Jews?
When handed the keys to Gaza, these Arabs trashed and looted the advanced agricultural and commercial structures which the benevolent Israelis bestowed upon them.
The so-called "Palestinians" are an amalgamation of primitive, uneducated, and inbred tribal cultures.. Not one of their heads contain normal "wiring". They are genetically defective from conception, and by custom and breeding, incapable of compromise or good will.
I believe that Reiss is (or was born) Jewish.
Calling out idiots like Timothy Reiss, a professor emeritus of comparative literature at New York University, is the great moral issue of our time.
Some people are just too dumb and evil...
You need to learn what a Jew is.
Atheists are not Jews.
Looks like these idiots are poster children for why college may not be a good idea any more. My gosh, such a thought would never have entered my mind, but all these “professors” ranting completely fabricated nonsense based on nothing but propaganda show what kind of “education” parents can look forward to their children having now. I have a feeling that new colleges teaching technical skills like chemistry and electrical engineering are going to pop up, places where people can attain job skills without the political libtard brainwashing.
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Apparently a lot of racists in this organization. Or are the bigots the ones who left.
