An Oregon Democrat has become the first member of Congress to announce a boycott of the State of the Union address.
Rep. Earl Blumenauer, who represents much of Portland and its eastern suburbs, announced he will not attend the presidential tradition on January 30, Pete Hegseth reported.
Blumenauer said on Twitter that he would instead be "working at home listening to Oregonians about what they think about the State of the Union [address]."
He warned that the speech would be another example of President Donald Trump's "destructive, divisive" dialogue.

Trump should just submit the SOTU message in written form, and forgo the speech. I don’t think a live speech is required by the Constitution.
It would be a ju-jitsu move to those spoiled wimps who want to stay home and pout, and save the networks a lot of air time.
It would give CNN and MSNBC days worth of material to use on the air.
It would also be immediately distributed all over the internet, embedding in stone the message he wants to impart to America.
