The X casts a wide umbrella of non-binary options that would alleviate confusion

The only confused people are the ones who reject their own biological reality.

The WA birth certificate lists “sex” not “gender”. So the state is including a third biological sex, not a third gender.
So the State is going beyond just making up a social policy along the lines of “gender isn’t sex”. This is the State making up fake facts about the biological sex of someone.

Aside from the utter insanity of this fruitcake development, the practice of being able to go in a change one’s birth certificate is flipping the finger to the importance of the information on the birth certificate. It is an official record of what you were at birth, as shared by the medical staff and the parents. To be able to amend what it says on something so fundamental throws the reliability of the birth certificate into chaos. If a mistake was made in an initial or a parent’s name, an addendum is petitioned and added. The original does not go away.

Birth certificates are created upon a birth. Who, precisely, is designating babies “X?” The head of the National Board of Pediatrics claims this is a criminal act.

The law should be backed by science:
Those who have XX chromosomes should select “female.”
Those who have XY chromosomes should select “male.”
Those who lack sex chromosomes should select “X.”

and the original SHOULD not go away. How will the X people’s birth records help in identifying the body, should things come to that end. We know already that some kooky parents will use X for their newborns, so as not to “stifle” their “self-expression.”

Ought to make police ABPs more interesting. “Be on lookout for 5’8” 250 pound X”
And if cop should happen to refer to them as other than what the perp wants to be called, there will be the lawsuit

At birth who is going to have a gender identity issue besides the true but very rare hermaphrodite (less than 200K total documented in US)?
This law is designed solely to let someone go back and change their gender whenever it suits them.

Can one be a “Shape shifter,” and assume multiple genders at their whim?
If so, they are an attorney’s gold mine.

Since gender determines the auto insurance rates, when on opts for gender X, rates will automatically go up if you were born a female.

Alleviate confusion? That's pretty funny.

You make an excellent point. Demographics are important, and if we don't know how many males and females there are, we are vulnerable to all sorts of social problems and confusions.
