Macys is slashing more than 10,000 jobs to move forward with 68 store closings including some in Florida....
.... sales at its established stores fell 2.1 percent in November and December compared to the same period....

Nothing about Trump supporters boycotting the place for many months.

Wonder how much increases in various states’ minimum wages had to do with this?
No mention of Macy’s supporting illegal immigration:

They can close the one in the Ocala Paddock Mall. It’s a dump. Nothing compared to the one in the Houston Galleria.
Must be this horrible economy./s
I stopped shopping there in 2015 and closed my credit line.
I believe one of the Macy’s closing is in downtown Miami. Go figure.
Brick and mortar stores closing in the age of Amazon?
How could that be?
Many of the closures are in downtown areas or in suburban areas infested with illegals and/or feral ‘youth.’
In both cases, lax policing and/or Democrat governments have allowed the ‘retail-n-jobs’ they always cite in speeches to disappear. Junk stores and hair salons aren’t quite the same economic engine.
I live in NYS. We’ve had a number of Macy’s close Upstate. Not so much due to crime as economics. Including the minimum wage. And the fact that the people running Macy’s don’t know WTH they are doing.
Yesb Trump boycott in action
Have not been in a store since they got on the bash Trump wagon....
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
My sister in law was talking about how she stopped shopping at Macys.. there is zero customer service of any kind. What few employees they have spend most of their time talking to each other and hiding from customers. I bought one. Thing there this year for Christmas. I walked around for 20 minutes trying to find someone to ring me up. I found an open cashier with one person finishing up a transaction and somehow it still took 15 minutes to make my purchase. It was almost comical.
Macy’s opened a new store a couple of years ago in a new mall in Sarasota. Store being closed is in a declining mall on the other side of Sarasots, everyone expected that closing.
Worked at Macy’s better dresses dept. King of Prussia store back in the eighties. we used to call our department “Macy’s rent-a-dress because they let people buy dresses and return them...they were obviously worn sweat-stained, dirty and we would have to return them and take that off of our commission. ridiculous. now in recent years not only did they boycott Ivanka Trump’s clothes but you can scan your own price tag, there’s no one ever on the floor to help you and good luck finding a cashier when you actually want to spend money! the last time I was in there was well before Ivanka Trump’s clothes were blocked and I literally stood in the middle of the linen department and yelled “does anybody want my money”? I will never darken their doorway again for lots of reasons primarily because of the Ivanka Trump line being taken out but seriously I never shopped in there for years.. it’s a dump! I have a job and it’s not scanning clothing tickets thank you very much.
Can anyone say ,”AMAZON???”
One word: Robots
I would suggest the primary Macy’s problem is that in many suburban areas, malls are obsolete. The growth of clothing stores in large strip centers has taken the business.
Amazon has not been a Macy’s blessing, but picky women want to shop, to look, to feel.
Macy’s #1 problem:
There is almost nothing that you can buy there which can’t be found cheaper elsewhere.
Macy's has been slow to adapt to the new reality. Usually I make ONE trip to the mall a year - at Christmas time - but this past Christmas I was able to get all my gifts online. I don't think I'm alone in this regard.
