Alberta, I don’t think Rosenstein recused himself from Russia probe.

I don't think he made a formal recusal announcement, but I believe his appointment of a special counsel effectively amounts to a recusal by definition. Otherwise, he would have simply overseen the investigation himself.

I'd be curious to see if any FR lawyers can chime in on this.

The DAG doesn’t himself do investigation and courtroom work. He assigns it. Appointing a special counsel indicates the DAG or the White House didn’t trust the normal DOJ employees/US attorneys and FBI.
