The Punisher star Jon Bernthal has spoken out about the connection between the gun-toting Marvel character the current debate on gun violence in the United States, telling Esquire that he is for gun-rights - and owns one himself - but he believes there are unresolved issues in the United States' gun laws.
Im a gun owner. I have a gun in my house to keep my family safe. Im trained in that guns use. I know how to keep it away from my kids, and I know how to use it if I need to," Bernthal explained. Should there be a way that a guy with mental issues like the asshole in Texas cant get guns? Absolutely. We have to have a dialogue, and thats not happening."
The Punisher character - and logo - have been adopted by many within the military community as a symbol of their efforts, and when asked about that Bernthal is thankful.
I feel honored to play a guy who people putting their life on the line identify with, said the actor.
But how does he view some white nationalists who have co-opted the Punisher's logo, as witnessed during the 2017 Charlottesville rallies?
"F*** them."
Bernthal is currently filming Universal's First Man, and is scheduled to reprise his role as Frank Castle in a second season of The Punisher on Netflix.
“Alt-right”, like “neo-conservative” = THE LEFT.
>>We have to have a dialogue, and thats not happening.
We cant have that dialogue because the Left wont allow lunatics to be treated as lunatics. But, they believe that a working person who votes for Trump is a deranged psychopath. There is no common language to have a dialogue. You also cant have a discussion when one side demands unconditional surrender prior to engaging in talks.
Anything having to do with Marvel tends to be extremely liberal, pro-homosexual, anti Traditional Values.
you’ll note that in one of the several of the episodes they had a recurring character who constantly assailed immigrants and conspicuously wore an NRA hat.
Finally it turns out the guy is a Stolen Valor, false veteran who never saw military action at all.
MARVEL doesnt like us, they like homo stuff.
all comic magazines have had those politics for a long, long time.
Military units were using the logo long before the movie.
There already is a way - it's called the National Instant Background Check (NIBC) system. It is run by our government and it failed in the case of the Texas church shooter. The truth is, government fails at almost everything it does, especially when it's "for our own good".
That being the case, I do not understand how anyone can think that MORE government interference with the 2nd Amendment would be a good thing.
Is this the actor who played Shane on the first two seasons of Walking Dead? The character was a firearms instructor for the local sheriffs office so I bet the actor got some instruction on guns in order to play the role as he was shown teaching other characters how to shoot.
The Punisher goes back to 1974.
The Punisher logo has been part of it that far back, but military units really only recently adopted it for the current GWOT.
Were there, in fact, any such lunatic actions?
If not, why not return to a scenario where basically everyone open carries?
The Punisher Netflix series was awful. Very poorly executed and very violent (and I am not particularly delicate).
Chris Kyle and his SEAL unit used it. RIP Feb. 2, 2013
Bernthal was a good villain on The Walking Dead. Good in Fury too.
So Shane is to blame for Ricks ridiculous hold on that python?
The Punisher definitely framed whites concerned about their country and its security as violent bigots and phonies.
Truth! This is how that conversation goes...
Liberal: We have to make sure mentally ill people can't get guns?
Me: How? There are laws now. There are reporting requirements. They are only as good as the people that have to do the reporting.
Liberal: Government needs to do more?
Me: like what? Should people go to prison if they don't do the paperwork correctly? Should the data entry folks and/or IT folks that work for the government go to jail when the system doesn't work?
Liberal: More Background Checks!
Me: More background checks than what? Should we run the background checks 2x or 10x?
Me: I think we should just build special hospitals for anyone deemed mentally ill and lock them up.
Liberal: You can't lock people up and take away their rights because of a disease!
Liberal: We just need to get rid of the guns.
Me: So we should take away the rights of the sane people so that we don't take away the rights of the crazy people?Doesn't that sound crazy to you? Do you own any guns? Has your condition been properly reported and documented?
Liberal: I'm not crazy!!!!
LOL, if not he's definitely to blame for not correcting it. I'm more ticked that Rick has caused the price of used python's to increase about $1000. They were always pricey but since that show got popular they have just skyrocketed.
I like the way he refers to the asshole in Texas as “The asshole in Texas”.
That is the only name these guys should ever get. The asshole in Newtown, the asshole in Vegas, etc...
There already is a way. It was short-circuited by the Air Force not entering in military court convictions and institutionalizations. We don't need new laws, we need existing laws properly enforced.
There are numerous military units that have used that logo.
I know 6/6 Cav 10th Mountain Division had their OH-58D’s painted with them.
3/87 Infantry had it on some of their vehicles.
1st Armored Division had some vehicles with it.
If you look past Hollywood to the facts those big shoot outs didn't happen and what few did happen they hardly ever hit anyone.
OK Corral: Some members of the two opposing parties were initially only about 6 feet (1.8 m) apart. About 30 shots were fired in 30 seconds. Tom and Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton were killed.
