Part of Trump's statement was also problematic.
This for instance:
Now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isnt as easy as I make it look, Trump said. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory, which was delivered by the forgotten men and women of this country. Yet Steve had everything to do with the loss of a Senate seat in Alabama held for more than thirty years by Republicans. Steve doesnt represent my basehes only in it for himself."
I posted this yesterday. It addressed the issue of whether Moore should be blamed for his loss or not. I think we could easily group Bannon in under that same concept.
Blaming Moore or Bannon is pointless. It evades the complicity of all things "Republican Leadership", to blame the little guy. Hey, the leadership went to war on Moore.
McConnell's reaction to this situation this morning was to tweet out a big smile. He's pleased as can be to see something blow out between Bannon and Trump.
He was also pleased to see Moore lose.
Moore was probably the most conservative candidate we'll see in the next five years. As for the Senate, he's probably the most Conservative chance we'll have in the next fifty years.
McConnell is so pleased with himself, and here Trump fell for the idea Moore was a terrible candidate. Wrong.
THe rumors about Moore were known before the primary and McConnell’s people were talking about it “off the record” I think POTUS knew what was coming with Moore, and therefore backed Strange.
Even though Moore is a better candidate, supposedly he already lost two statewide elections in Alabama. Which tells me he was never very popular statewide, then lump on these allegations that came out and his non denial denial, it was a disaster. POTUS was correct in backing Strange, because he had information we didn’t.
