Indeed, I will say:
I enjoy McDonald’s a LOT more in foreign countries than here...where we can take the whole “free enterprise” thing for granted...In Russia, it was my saving grace sometimes to step into one.
Check out how long the line was when the first one opened in Moscow in 1990 just as the USSR was collapsing:

What a crack-up.
Now we know why the U.S.S.R. actually fell.
If I were a member of the Soviet Politburo and saw that I’d throw up my hands in defeat.
I say this tongue in cheek, but what an incredible unspoken commentary on economic systems comparison.
I’ll bet they hadn’t seen lines like that since the last time they went to buy toilet paper. LOL
That looks like the queue to my local Chick-fil-A right after the homosexual lobby announced their boycott!
In 1999 I was in Egypt and went to the McD’s in Sharm el Sheikh. The place was spotless and they had flowers on the tables. They brought the food to you after taking the order.
They gave me a comment card and when I finished my meal, I took it to the manager.
All of the employees seemed worried about my comment card. They were trying to see what I had written by looking over his shoulder until the manager translated that I thought it was the cleanest, freshest McDonalds I had ever been in. They all smiled and thanked me for my visit. I wish this level of service was still an American experience.
Eaten at their restaurants in England, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Japan.
Menus differ (Beer in Germany, Curry in England, Mayo with fries in Belgium (excellent), Something weird in Japan) but burgers tastes the same. Weird but comforting.
Thanks for posting the video.
Best post-communist(?)video....

My Grandpa went through the Russian revolution when he was a teenager. I wouldn’t be here if his parents did make the sacrifice to send their teenagers to a land where they thought their kids could be free. They never saw each other again.
