What’s to become of Kathy Lee?

One benefit of Hoda’s crowning is that it probably wiped the smug off of Willie Geist’s face. You just know he was sitting by the phone waiting for THE call.

I'll probably get trashed for saying this, and I may be wrong, but I'm willing to give her a chance.

I have to admit, I didn't know who she was until I searched her name. Then I recognized her, as the one who suffered through dancing with Mee-again.

I then conducted an exhaustive 45 minute search (!) on the interweb and youtube to figure out where she'll likely land on the issues.

I was expecting to find a plethora of statist-supporting utterance, interviews, and postings. I'm happy (and surprised) to report....I didn't find anything outrageous.

To be sure, I didn't find Ted Nugent-like rants

I did find this tweet after the church shooting in Texas...

My heart just broke. Again . #SutherlandSprings Texas church shooting. Please stop the madness

Ok...she's not recommending that everyone pack heat, but she's not demanding confiscation, either.

The closest thing I could find to being political was this quote, from right after Trump won the election:

The TODAY host recalled speaking to a woman working at her gym whose son spent the night crying.

“Imagine you’re an immigrant kid, and someone says he’s gonna take your family away, you are legitimately afraid. And I think if you have an opportunity to make someone feel better, you should,” Kotb said. “If you’re victorious in this, you should be magnanimous and reach out and help somebody who’s feeling insecure. This is no time for gloating. This is time for unity. And I really believe in it. I believe in the goodness in people, everybody. I mean, I’ve lived everywhere in the country different times of my life. I’ve lived in the deep South, I’ve lived up North, I’ve lived here and there and all over, and every place I’ve lived, I’ve loved it. I lived in Greenville, Mississippi, which is probably one of divisive cities ever, and I loved it there. So I see the goodness in people. So I think if you have an opportunity to lighten someone’s mood, just do it. Just do it.”

“We have a great country, it’s not going anywhere, and a lot of people are very pleased that there’s going to be change, and they’re so sick of everything being stuck like it’s been for years and years,” she added. “The country spoke, and it’s time to pay attention. But we shouldn’t have nice, good, hard-working people crying.”

Again, not what I would have said, but it's nowhere near the strident vituperation we got from the vast majority of media types.

Here is the video of Hoda on Today, the day after the election. She plays it right down the middle. In fact, the snippet they played of Trump's acceptance speech was where Trump called for unity, for coming together. They also played footage of people gathering around Susan B. Anthony's grave. Again, she's not Rush, but she's also not MSNBC.

I found this clip from TMZ where Hoda, perhaps in an unguarded moment, said that Women love getting cat calls!

One things that liberals like to do is jump to conclusions without examining the evidence. Our side is more measured, more analytical, a bit of a "wait and see" attitude. I'm not saying she will become a card-carrying member of the VRWC, but I'm going to give Hoda a chance.
