Trump Advisers Visit to Moscow Got the F.B.I.s Attention. That was the page-one headline the New York Times ran on April 20, 2017, above its breathless report that a catalyst for the F.B.I. investigation into connections between Russia and President Trumps campaign was a June 2016 visit to Moscow by Carter Page.
It was due to the Moscow trip by Page, dubbed a foreign policy adviser to the campaign, that the F.B.I. obtained a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in September i.e., during the stretch run of the presidential campaign.
Youre to be forgiven if youre feeling dizzy. It may not be too much New Years reverie; it may be that youre reeling over the Times holiday-weekend volte-face: How the Russia Inquiry Began: A Campaign Aide, Drinks and Talk of Political Dirt.
Seven months after throwing Carter Page as fuel on the collusion fire lit by then-FBI director James Comeys stunning public disclosure that the Bureau was investigating possible Trump campaign coordination in Russias election meddling, the Gray Lady now says: Never mind. Were onto Collusion 2.0, in which it is George Papadopoulos then a 28-year-old whose idea of résumé enhancement was to feign participation in the Model U.N. who triggered the FBIs massive probe by . . . wait for it . . . a night of boozy blather in London.

Today is Pooch Sulzberger's first day on the job as New York Times publisher and he has the most important decision of his life to make: Stick with the quickly collapsing Trump-Russia Collusion fantasy or come clean and just admit they were completely WRONG this past year.
Either way their credibility will take a YUUUUUGE hit but if they come clean at least they will be given credit for their disclosure of indulging in FAKE NEWS.
I like this part. A big whoop-de-do IMHO.
“Turns out Papadopoulos was out drinking in London with Alexander Downer, Australias top diplomat in Britain. Tongue loosened, the young foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign made a startling revelation to Downer: He had learned that Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton.
And if the whole Russian collusion excuse proves to be false, then we are expecting heartfelt apologies.
Been there many times. It takes forever to choose all those tags, and by the time you finish, someone else has also finished.
How the Russia Inquiry Began: A Campaign Aide, Drinks and Talk of Political Dirt. what BS..they are so obvious. When it finally comes out that the dossier was the basis, they will stick to this story, even though you wonder if the FBI launches investigations based on beer talk. If that is the case, we would all be under investigation (and probably are.)
They keep rewriting their stories like conspiracy crackpots.
Nice to see Andy start to come around.
Or #3 ... try to quietly change the subject and hope nobody notices.
Why doesn’t McCarthy just jump to the bottom line? This is all complete unadulterated BS. He writes what? 1500 words going through the yang-and-yang of when the Times said this or that. Who cares? We know they’re f’ing liars. Maybe 100 words would establish that. Just sayin’
Why wouldn't Russia have dirt on Hillary?
Why doesn't the US have dirt on every foreign politician in the entire world? What the hell do we give the CIA a budget for if not to get just this kind of stuff? Do we think the Russians are stupid?
I have personally known Russians. They are not stupid. They have spies, we have spies.
I think the Russians were wanting Hillary elected. They do have dirt on her and they would have used it. Trump is a much stronger adversary. They did not want him elected.
