A former Trump campaign aide who took a guilty plea in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe was the linchpin of the FBI’s investigation of Kremlin influence in the 2016 election, new reports say.
In a drunken gossip session with an Australian diplomat in London in May 2016, Trump aide George Papadopoulos claimed that Russia held political dirt on Hillary Clinton, The New York Times said Saturday.
Months later, e-mails hacked from the Democratic National Committee showed up on WikiLeaks, and the Australians told the FBI about the Papadopoulos conversation.
The disclosure sparked the FBI’s probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, sources told the Times.
Papadopoulos, 29, pleaded guilty in October to charges of lying to the FBI about contacts he had with Russians during the 2016 campaign. He is now a cooperating witness.

It can't be pointed out often enough that collusion is not a criminal or civil offense!
The FBI has as little legal justification for opening up an investigation over "collusion" as it does over "nose-picking" or "burping."
The word "collusion" appears nowhere in the Criminal Code, and the FBI has no official mandate to investigate it!

Well so far its having the desired effect. All the news outlets including FNC are running “The dossier is not what triggered the investigation” narrative. The fact the dossier was used to obtain the fisa warrants is a buried story now. Thanks again Jeff.

That sounds like hearsay to me. And they've pinned an investigation to that?
Why is the question always, “Was Trump given political dirt on Hillary Clinton by Russia?” instead of “Why was a major party candidate (Hillary) so compromised that a foreign power was able to find enough dirt to potentially sway an election or perhaps even blackmail her had she been elected?”
