Do the voters get a receipt for their vote? And if so, how can they know that vote wasn’t flipped in the tabulation process?

I don’t know if there is a way other than a recount. But in cases where a recount has been done, I have never actually heard of a case where a machine was determined to have flipped votes.
For Roy Moore, the bigger issue of flipping was Republican voters. And it is not a new ussue for him.
In 2012, Romney defeated Obama by totals of 1,255,926 to 795,696. Roy Moore won his Chief Justice seat by only 1,051,627 to 977,301.
So essentially, close to 200,000 Romney voters flipped over to vote against Moore.
