In the capital they showed their anger through normally taboo slogans, such as death to the dictator, chanted by students gathered near Tehran university a barely veiled attack on the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Clashes with security forces followed.
It was not clear how many were detained in Tehran on Saturday, but scores of protesters are believed to have been arrested in western Kermanshah and eastern Mashhad, Irans conservative second city, where the latest unrest began.

Who is Maj. Gen. Qassem Suleimani, the man who stumped Trump?
ROTF!
Ditto.
Yes, he's the quintessential, pyjama boy, beta/omega male.
Lessons form 2009...
1. Have a POTUS with a backbone who won’t side with the regime. Words of hope and encouragement.
2. Counter ECM and cyber attacks to break the firewalls and open communication with the outside world and within the populace.
3. Coordination with regional countries for a singular message.
Not at all surprised people are stepping up to assist iran....wonderful to stand for freedom for a people to be “Persia’ Again.
.......Protests, riots, and attacks on security forces reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Mashad, Qom, Ardabil, Zanjan, Ahvaz, Rasht, Kashan, Kermanshah, Khoramabad
It’s clear that a mass revolt is taking place over the entire country of Iran. People chanting they want their country back....No to Islamic rule.
Absolutely! Though I think PJ Boy is one up on OB.....no wonder his hood rat wife. But now, for a time they’ll be hanging with the elite until the elite grow tired of them ...it won’t take long.

Absolutely. And thats really all we need to understand about it. Go Iranians, and I pray you can wrench yourselves out from under the thumb of your Mullah overlords.
You mean guys like the Council of Guardians?
I would love to read about the Iranian people ceaucescuizing them. And, if a certain tweeter turns out to have had a hand in inspiring the event, we should be proud of him!
I have a technical question: Arent portraits of people forbidden in Islam? How can there be a portrait of the Supreme Ayatollah?
protests now breaking out in the smaller cities as well..seems to be a mix of age groups not just young people

Having just seen Darkest Hour a few minutes ago, the tenor of your words is very familiar. They fit the Chamberlain/Halifax mold perfectly.
As others here have already pointed out, the mullahs ARE the really bad guys. I have zero tolerance anymore for Libertarian isolationism. This moment with Iran may well present a golden opportunity to overthrow the Islamist government and thereby avoid what will otherwise inevitably require a brutal war. Irans nuclear ambitions are no less dangerous than North Koreas, and wishing them away or fantasizing about containment will not forestall the threat. Their nuclear threat WILL have to be ended, one way or another. Personally, I would prefer to do it by supporting their people in their effort to exterminate the Islamist vermin in their midst.
This situation is not analogous to what Obama and Hillary did to Libya or Egypt. The Iranian people are ALREADY suffering under an Islamist dictatorship (your really bad guys). We should expend every effort, both covert and if necessary overt, to support this uprising.
