A dog was found buried alive in a dumpster last week outside a business in suburban Atlanta.
Emily Goldstein told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that her neighbor found the beagle while taking out the trash at work.
The neighbor and a few coworkers rummaged through the garbage to rescue the dog after he heard a whining sound coming from the dumpster, the paper reported.
Goldstein told the paper she believes the beagle, which had no collar or form of identification, is between 1 and 2 years old.
She and her neighbor put an online advertisement in an effort to locate the owner, and are determining the next step in finding the dog a new home......

He was buried under garbage and today was trash day, so he would have been crushed to death, Goldstein said. Trash is typically crushed and compacted when collected.
The dog had no microchip or collar to identify him or his owner. The dog is housebroken, calm and affectionate, Goldstein said.
Hes the sweetest thing in the world. I cant understand who could do something like this, Goldstein said.
Goldstein and her neighbor, who was unavailable for comment, are waiting until Sunday to decide whether the dog will go to a shelter or rescue, or if they will try to find him a home themselves. They have also placed an online ad about the dog in hopes of finding its owner.
I would love a happy ending for this baby, Goldstein said. Nobody deserves to be thrown away like trash.

Is very sweet loving beagle was found in Lilburn deep in a dumpster. He was whimpering so loud that he drew attention to himself. I decided to make an ad on the off chance that his owner did not do this to him. Hes about a year and a half two years old and is sweet as sugar. 609 902 9282
I hate people.
I have had a number of pets, option one and option three are the only ones I have done.
Just dumping an animal is wrong.
He’s beautiful.
I found some abandoned kittens on the roadside once. I put them in my car and brought them to a veterinarian’s office, and was later told they all got good homes.
The person who left them could have done the same damn thing. It was only a matter of driving in a different direction.
Anyone who would abandon helpless, trusting animals to an awful fate is broken/warped/sick on a fundamental level.
I follow my town’s animal control FB page. They report picking up a lot of dogs and cats that have been abandoned, dropped out of cars, etc. Some are in pretty rough shape. Nothing like this, though. SMH.
Could he have been trying to find food and feel in? Then rummaged around and went deeper? Just asking ?
Are we sure this wasn’t PETA freeing an enslaved animal from certain human ownership?
Never know. Could be. Don’t know particulars even of how the dumpster is set up. And Beagles can be very determined to follow a scent. This dog doesn’t look in that bad condition, either.
That was my first thought too. Also sometimes a POS significant other will abuse the pets of their ex.
Humans never surprise me with the cruelty they can do. To animals OR other humans.
Ditto
Good looking pup
Some folks dont deserve the air they breathe
Maybe. But dumpsters are pretty tall
Im not a dog expert, but his white patches and his eyes indicate to me the animal is much older than 1-2 years.
How would it get into one on its own? I don’t know any beagles that can jump that high.
If it is like any of the beagles I've known, it has a psychotic obsession with food and eating. A hungry beagle might find his way into a dumpster on his own …
People who do evil are a very small minority. Even within that very small minority, a portion of those who do evil do so out of fear or ignorance.
People are good. God has written his law on our hearts. Just look at how those who heard the dog's whining jumped into action to find the creature. Look how those volunteering at an animal shelter were ready to give the dog the care it needed. Look at the overwhelming sympathy and outrage on this site and others. Yes - good people need only realize how powerful they are.
