Erica Garner, who became an activist for police reform after her father's words of "I can't breathe" were used as a rallying cry for a movement, died Saturday after being in a coma for several days, according to a statement posted to her official Twitter account. She was 27.
Garner, the oldest daughter of Eric Garner, suffered from cardiac arrest a week prior and was being hospitalized in Brooklyn, New York, her family said.
"Erica the world loves you. I love you. I am glad you came into our lives," family members said in a tweet. "May you find the peace in the next life that you deserved while you were here."

I liked her... she was the real deal. A good woman who wanted sane change. Prayers for her loved ones...
Bad genes and appeared to be in bad shape. Shame. So young of a woman.
Dad also had bad genes and was in bad shape sold loosies and didnt want to get arrested. He resisted had a heart attack and died. His death was no ones fault but his own.
It’s a blessing Eric was spared suffering the death of his child.
That cop should have told Garner to leave and not come back.
He should not have paid with his life for selling loosies.
Next thing you know cops will be shooting people for..............
Their insecurities
So sad. Horrible. She leaves behind a little baby.
Is there a fund to contribute ?
The chokehold and chest compression had nothing to do with it, huh? I know, selling loosies is a very serious criminal offence.
Its nyc fault. They increase tax in cigarettes so higher that a local market become very lucrative. Eric Gardner at least worked to make a living and not rob someone
Which is why those who say "Legalize and Tax It", with regards to marijuana, will bring on a much bigger "War on Drugs" than we even have now.
“Next thing you know cops will be shooting people for..............”
THE NEXT THING? A day does not go by where someone is killed in this country by a cop. No wonder the stats on their deaths on duty is going down. They shoot first and ask questions later. The only problem is that the person they’ve killed can’t answer any of them.
I’d like to say I wholeheartedly support Law Enforcement, but today I can’t.
Do what you like, but that family received a multimillion dollar settlement from the gracious taxpayers of NYC.
Why did you think they need money? Unless my sarcasm detector is busted.
a little baby.
Maybe young but I doubt little after looking at the family
Garner was a career petty criminal whod experienced dozens of arrests, but had learned nothing from them. He had been arrested by the NYPD more than thirty times since 1980 on charges such as assault, resisting arrest, and grand larceny. At the time of the incident, he was out on bail for selling untaxed cigarettes, driving without a license, marijuana possession, and false impersonation. So it's obvious that he'd been warned numerous times, but chose to continue with his illegal activities. He was on the street July 17, selling untaxed cigarettes one at a time which, as inconsequential as it seems, happens to be a crime. I believe the owner of the shop where he was selling these cigarettes in front of, had complained numerous times to Garner, and to the police. The family got 5.9 million dollars in settlement from the City of New York. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to blame his daughter's death on someone, and get another payout.
Not surprising. Thanks for the background information, mass55th.
He sold loosies. A minor crime with probably a fine. He resisted arrest...a more serious fine. His resisting arrest fine caused physical contact. His fat body, lousy physical condition killed him in commission of the crime of resisting arrest.
He had asthma as did his daughter.
Amazing that EVEN NBC resisted using the thoroughly rebutted lie that her grossly overweight father died from an “illegal choke hold”
On one twitter account they mentioned a fund and said to only us the one on their page that they post but I do not recall the page
I know, too bad the cops didn’t help him after he repeatedly told them he couldn’t breathe. I guess that’s not quite as bad as the time someone called for help with an elderly woman having a diabetic episode, whom the police summarily shot for not cooperating.
