Thanks. The one question I would have is whether that principle applies in a criminal case. I've only seen it used in civil lawsuits.

A similar legal principle that might be more relevant is in pari delicto -- literally translated to "in equal fault." This basically means that a court will be reluctant to get involved in a legal case between two dirtbags or shady characters.

I suppose a criminal case can still go forward. What will hurt her now though is if she claimed Harris was an old friend it might hurt her credibility because he said he only met her on that particular day.
