For many parts of the nation, a prolonged period of punishing cold is just getting started.
The cold snap that descended on much of the nation from the Rockies eastward on Christmas Eve is predicted to become further entrenched and even more biting in the coming days. The worst of the cold may grip the central United States from Saturday through New Year’s Day, when temperatures may fall more than 30 degrees below normal. Then it may spill eastward.
As the Arctic air poured over the Great Lakes, it produced astronomical snowfall amounts. An incredible 53 inches of snow piled up in 30 hours in Erie, Pa., Pennsylvania’s biggest two-day snowfall on record.

The pictures from the lake effect snow in Erie, PA are pretty impressive. -2 here this morning in NH. They are predicting -7 Friday & Saturday night. That is about as cold as it ever gets here.

I am very worried about Al Gore. It seems as if he always vanishes during cold weather. Maybe he is in the film studio working on his next global warming documentary.

-22 when I woke up in North Dakota this morning. Don’t want to even think what the wind chill was. Tough on the wildlife.
Christmas 1983 it got down to -20 here in Pittsburgh.
I’ll never forget that.
Maybe I’m missing something here. It IS Winter, isn’t it???

It was five degrees here in Alaska this morning. I’m ready to break out my winter clothing.,
Thank God for global warming, think how bad this would be if we didn’t have that going for us.

No, no, no . . . you’ve forgotten that the global warming crowd thinks global warming is responsible for cold weather, too.
Therefore, to them:
A) Global warming is making things hotter! Give up some of your rights, give us money, and shut up . . . it’s “settled science,” after all!
B) Global warming is making things colder! Give up some of your rights, give us money, and shut up . . . it’s “settled science,” after all!
That was my take as well...
