Trudging through mud in sub-zero temperatures, digging the earth with their bare hands and heaving huge rocks with the most primitive of tools, these horrifying photos have revealed life inside Joseph Stalin's gulag prisons, where people were worked to death in Soviet labour camps through the mid-1900s.
This year marks 100 years since the 1917 Russian Revolution, which led to Vladimir Lenin taking control of the Soviet Union. When Lenin died in 1924, Stalin rose to power and became the state's authoritarian leader.
Between 1929 and the year of Stalin's death in 1953, 18million men and women were transported to Soviet slave labour camps in Siberia and other outposts of the Red empire - many of them never to return.
Prisoners worked in the most extreme climates, facing temperatures of -20C (-4F), as they cut down trees with handsaws and dug at frozen ground with primitive pickaxes.
Others mined coal or copper by hand, often suffering painful or fatal lung diseases from inhaling ore dust while on the job.

I agree, and that there be a college course required as well. Sadly, most colleges have dropped courses on Western Society, that combined history, philosophy, religion, and their (Greeks and Romans) influence on the “West.”
I think they call that ‘a good start’.
>>Wallstreet.
AKA the same dirtbags who bought the grain produced in the Ukrainian breadbasket while commies starved 10 million people to death there.
Karl Marx knew all about the velocity of commodities - as did/do the Jesuit parasites who indoctrinated him.

As did Herbert Marcuse - when his shyster “analysis” of Soviet economics was used to instigate the Golden-Calf Fattening Cold War - before he subverted American culture as the “father of the new left” thus facilitating an easy slaughter of the ripened technocratic bull.

Some of the returned Soviet POWs were machine-gunned but others were not. In the recounting I read the soldiers were put on a train bound for a re-education camp/gulag. On the way the train stopped near a large quarry. The solders were ordered off and sent to the rim of the quarry. There were thousands and thousands of Cossack families in the quarry which was ringed by Russian troops with machine guns. The POWs were forced to watch as the Cossacks were machine-gunned.
The author was wracked with worry about witnessing the event. Not because he cared about civilians so much as whether or not it indicated they’d also be killed. They concluded it was intimidation which meant they would not be killed. So it was a joyous occasion for the POWs. Kinda shows how morality can be grossly distorted under a totalitarian system. The author spent several years in re-education until his release. He was barred from re-joining the army.
All the really well functioning Soviet Factories were built by US engineers from loans provided by leftist wall street banks. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the majority of the factories they were still using were the ones built by the US. It’s very unlikely the USSR would have become a major world power without US leftwing assistance in industrializing.
I wonder if the American drunkards realized what they were drinking was blood-grain.
Kinda highlights what a crock of hypocritical manure the Coors-backed Boosh pooshing Heritage Foundation is too.
We have statues honoring these mass murdering ilk here.
Well, its the ideal that Democrats want for everyone! You can do this for Sheila Jackson Lee and Cory Booker, you ungrateful racist...they let you live, dont they? For awhile anyway.
Thanks x1stcav.
The Stalin White Sea Canal was an example of such atrocities under Stalin. The photo showing Stalin strolling along the completed canal with Nikolai Yezhov, Molotov, and another, wound up being airbrushed bit by bit to show Stalin walking alone, as each of his functionaries was purged or murdered, or merely inconvenient in the picture.

Many thousand Cossaks (and some families) were also killed by the Russian-communists “guards” when they were turned over by the Allies after WWII.

..in Bavaria at the same time. Ensuring the confrontation between Russia and Germany that they were instigating would be as profitable as possible.
That's history.
So the question now is - where do WE go from here?
>>Why are WE not doing to them what the looney left is doing to the Confederate memorials?
Because we respect and appreciate the value of learning from history?
If learning from history was the purpose of Stalin, Che (or any other commie) statues in the U.S., I'd agree. It isn't.
Yours & another post taught me something. I didn’t know Stalin also mass murdered Cossacks. Did they fight on the German side like the Vlasovites?
Or was it Cossacks’independent streak that enraged Stalin? We will never stop uncovering evidence of what an evil monster Stalin was. Despite the New York Times.
Mao Tse-tung & Ho Chi Minh? May never know; too popular in academia.
Tearing down the statues is a double edged sword.
Remove the monument and people will conveniently forget about the associated errors too.
The monuments should be augmented with historical truth regarding the evil the individuals - and their supporters in the USA and elsewhere, perpetrated.
--Thomas Jefferson
That should be why we have monuments in America.
And the people there today...love ice cream.
You are correct about that. But the purpose of those displays was to poke a finger in the eye of folks like you and me. And the left would never tolerate the truth being attached to their icons.
