Everyone forgets these TV Newsies are first and foremost entertainers. Think not? Watch what happens when their ratings plummet! Ask Megan Kelly!

They are entertainers that can’t sing, dance, do comedy, act - the nearest they can come to that is looking thoughtful, and empathic when reading the news. This what they do they read what’s put in from of them on a teleprompter. That’s the depth of their contribution in informing the public. We give them celebrity status because they are on TV. This unearned “status” bring with it false assumptions of knowledge, wisdom, character that they may or may not possess. Our culture just does that and we go along with it. Many of them can only do one thing, they can look good on TV! So they’re basically clothing models (Think Zoolander - Ben Stiller comedy) and store mannequins that can read teleprompters.

My preference for TV news is text and picture that I look at and read. Even that leaves “news organizations” with tremendous power - the power to report or not report and the power to edit the text a certain way.
