The reprimand, passed by a 41 vote and made available online, says that the Kentucky code of judicial conduct requires judges to "fairly and impartially decide cases according to the law."
"Judge Nance's refusal to hear and decide adoption cases involving homosexuals is violative of said Canons," it adds, listing out canons that prohibit prejudice based on race, sex, religion, national original, disability, age, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
Nance explained back in April that "as a matter of conscience," he believes that "under no circumstance" would "the best interest of the child be promoted by the adoption by a practicing homosexual."
Nance's attorneys have also said that according to his sincere religious belief, "the divinely created order of nature is that each human being has a male parent and a female parent," the Herald Leader added.

They’re just getting started.
Yes very true.
It’s hard to believe that 20 or so years ago, this belief of this judge wouldn’t have been questioned at all.
20+ years ago, marriage was about the least controversial issue in America, in that, nobody seriously questioned that marriage was a man and a woman.
Times change, and not always for the better.
Sounds to me like he met these requirements.
Judge says, No homosexual "couple" is going to get custody of a child from me, I don't care if they're male or female, white, black, brown or green, ugly or otherwise, tall or short, slim or fat. Not happening.
See? Impartial.
Who wrote the “canons”.
Impeach the judges who found him guilty of misconduct and give this judge an award.
Homos and their pets. They should be restricted to the ASPCA and PetSmart.
He should be appointed to the U. S. Supreme Court.
20: It is bad for those who call what is sinful good, and good sinful, who say dark is light and light is dark, who make bitter sweet, and sweet bitter!
Isaiah 5:2 0New Life Version (NLV)
They allowed gay adoptions as a political matter, no fair study was ever made of the appropriateness. And these are our children. This was going on long before gay marriage was legalized. Suffer the little children.

So, the homeless should start adopting kids any day now?
Sorry, folks, the gig is up. Welcome to the culmination of the Right sitting on their thumbs and poo-poo’ing the ideas of the Left.
“Oh, that could *never* happen....”. Just how many examples from the past does one need to see the relentlessness of Social\Commun-ism??
“But, I have to work!”. Correct. But, *THEY* don’t and they’re LOUDER. Problem is, they get to VOTE, too. They’ll vote every penny from your pocket they can get because they’re not enough push-back, only squealing.
The recent Supreme Court decision on gay marriage was a clear sign that this country has been given up by God. As this country slides into ruin, these types of stories will become common and worse.
No no they said we dont want to force our beliefs on you we just want our love recognized
Well here you are... forced beliefs and politically correct thinking are now the law of the land.
Theyve expanded civil rights legislation from you cant restrict services to the people on this list to you cant think bad thoughts of them either.
The high judicial priests of the church of moral relativism will suffer no heretics.
I disagree on this one. If you can’t apply the law, you should not become a judge. Another example: if you could not impose the death sentence and it is allowed in your state, you should not become a judge.
Sorry, but a PC court ruling that pretends guys can be moms and girls can be dads is not “the law” in my book.
Would they rather this judge who most likely would impose increased scrutiny hear their case, or one that would be more sympathetic to the phaggs?
Again, the only “law” he isn’t applying is an imagined one. If not, they should cite the law.
