FDA Announces Plans to Target Risky Homeopathic Remedies
PJ Media ^ | DECEMBER 20, 2017 | LAUREN SPAGNOLETTI

Alternative remedies like homeopathic treatments have become popular in recent years and now make up a $3 billion industry. But the Food and Drug Administration will begin scrutinizing products that could be dangerous to vulnerable populations.

Many homeopathic remedies are derived from plants and claim to treat everything from the common cold to serious diseases. But the FDA fears that these products can "bring little to no benefit in combating serious ailments, or worse — may cause significant and even irreparable harm because the products are poorly manufactured, or contain active ingredients that aren’t adequately tested or disclosed to patients," according to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb.

This is about homeopathic remedies, not about auto safety.

Ah, are you clueless about what homeopathy is, Neo?

Do you know what dilution is?

Do you how dilted homeopathic medicines are?

Do you even know what the word homeopathy means?

MD expat is fixated on belladonna.

But not on FDA approved Ritalin, Prozac, shock treatment, opioids.

I have no doubt half the regulations and laws out there are not needed, ok. But, what people are putting into the bodies of innocent children and pregnant women is a different deal. Often, what is non-traditional is not synonymous with medicine, at all. My friends that went to west Africa during the Ebola epidemic have seen many results of non-traditional “medicine.” It is not a rosy picture. Do you have faith in anything you do not understand?

“I know several people that went to west Africa during the Ebola epidemic. They witnessed up close the alternative medicine in those countries. We dumped more than 2 billion tacxpayer dollars into stopping this deadly virus.”

Typical Alinsky style non sequitor gibberish.

Has nothing to do with homeopathy.

Homeopathic is not medicine and the analogy with auto safety is quite applicable.

And MarvinStinson thinks that putting dangerous or sometimes lethal levels of belladonna into infant teething pills is just fine because they are “homeopathic”, are therefore harmless and should not be held to any scrutiny.

The belladonna issue is something recently in the news. He’s not fixated, he’s right and he is trying to help.

I am not your enemy Marvin. I am a retired research scientist and veterinarian. I fully understand the dose-response basic concept, something completely lacking in 3rd world knowledge of medicine.

You are clueless.

You don’t know the difference between homeopathy and your “third world medicine.’

Your posts reek of Alinsky style propaganda.

Turmeric is supposed to be great for OA, took it for a year, didn’t notice any difference in pain level.

Selenium on the other hand is 100% more effective for sleep than Melatonin. Plus this trace mineral has many other body functions it effects.

Fish oil for me is a NO, I react badly to it.

A full range of Bone Vits/Mins with trace Minerals is reversing the OP, and I don’t have to worry about the OP Drugs killing me or giving me Bone Cancer.

Why are FDA Flagged/Black Boxed drugs still on the market? The FDA Flagged/Black Boxed them as dangerous, yet won’t pull them. Quite a few are on my reaction list.

I use a Tens unit and Dry Cupping on the OP pain. Works.

If the government wanted to reign in bad Snake Oil salesmen, then they should shut down all those TV ads for Braces, step in tubs, motorized wheelchairs. Or those Alt. for Viagra. Those items should be doctor scripted with proof of need. A bad knee needs a full or Partial replacement not a stupid expensive brace. All are aimed a Seniors on Medicare.

And remove all DRUG ADS from TV. Doctors get paid for shilling those new advertised expensive drugs. Course I’d miss all the warnings they give, not that I don’t double check out any new drug I’m scripted. To many ER trips over them.

Tell me about your background in science Marvin. What is your profession. Can you tell me that’? We need some common ground for discussion here so I know where you are coming from.

Why do you keep mentioning west Africa? Homeopathy originated in Germany in the 19th century and has been practiced in many nations since.

Do you have faith in anything you do not understand?

I believe that there's an entity and there are principles I don't understand, but accept as beyond my limitations.

In terms of what I put in my body? I want to know what I'm ingesting. With pharmaceuticals, that's not clear. I only use products for which I know their ingredients and I've researched for myself their uses and their side effects. I do the same thing with food.

For anyone with arthritis issues, rub this stuff on. Ten dollars at CVS. My man uses it on his finger joints and knuckles and it works. But it's made from hot peppers (capsaicin) so if it gets into your eyes, nose or mouth it burns like crazy.
