Alternative remedies like homeopathic treatments have become popular in recent years and now make up a $3 billion industry. But the Food and Drug Administration will begin scrutinizing products that could be dangerous to vulnerable populations.
Many homeopathic remedies are derived from plants and claim to treat everything from the common cold to serious diseases. But the FDA fears that these products can "bring little to no benefit in combating serious ailments, or worse may cause significant and even irreparable harm because the products are poorly manufactured, or contain active ingredients that arent adequately tested or disclosed to patients," according to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb.

That’s fine, but alternative medicine is not medicine, it’s something else with a different name that tries to connect itself with medicine by using the alternative descriptor.
The question is, who established all these rules, regs, and the shredding of the Constituion, it sure as hell was the lawyers. No other profession is but marginally responsible.

Now that they have legalized pot, how long before it’s mandatory?

I wish I knew the answer Nick. We could buy the two top companies and make a fortune. How do you think it compares to smoking tobacco, healthwise?

I think they are bad for you. But everyone knows cigarettes are bad for you. The government and big business have a relentless campaign to make everyone thing pot is a panacea, that is only beneficial.

The ACA is pretty much mandating it. If you don’t comply with it, you loose your rights.

May cause harm? May?
No, unless the FDA has firm evidence, they should be allowed to do nothing.

"Last time I checked there is no law mandating the use of pharmaceuticals."
You seem to be pretty clueless as to the issue being discussed here Neo. It's not whether or not the FDA can force us to take their approved drugs, it is whether or not they can force us to use
only their approved drugs. I'm surprised that a scientist and medical professional such as yourself would have misunderstood such a simple concept.
"Do you have faith in anything you do not understand?"
Do
you ever wonder if what you think you understand is not actually factual? Medical science is not one long string of truths being dragged out of the darkness by selfless professionals such as yourself. Its history is full of both successes and failures made by both the well-intentioned and the corrupt.
Vioxx was approved by the medical experts at the very FDA that you think we should all be subject to. It's going to take a lot of deaths caused by unregulated herbal and homeopathic remedies to match the death count caused by that one government stamp of approval.
"I fully understand the dose-response basic concept, something completely lacking in 3rd world knowledge of medicine."
Completely lacking? Your 1st world pride is revealing you to be a fool Neo. What you call "3rd world knowledge of medicine" has for thousands of years known of the concept of proper dosage being essential in the use of a drug. Here's an interesting article that you might find enlightening:
"Tell me about your background in science Marvin. What is your profession. Can you tell me that? We need some common ground for discussion here so I know where you are coming from."
Common ground for discussion? Why? Aren't facts, logic and a well-reasoned argument enough for you? You do realize that this is an anonymous forum, right? You professing to be a retired research scientist and veterinarian carries just as much weight in support of your arguments as my being the retired King of Thailand has in support of mine. Marvin, even without stating his credentials, seems to be eating your lunch Neo and I don't think your claimed credentials are going to do much to improve your poorly reasoned arguments.

It is kind of fun listening to you shill for the govt's take over of our right to choose our own paths in life though. Do you have any more stories about your friends' trip to Africa you could entertain us with?
