It will likely begin with an orchestrated attempts at assassination leaders of the patriotic movement. This will likely involve attempted hits at Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Sheriff Clarke, Rush and of course, the Trump family themselves.
There will be a movement of people the like of which not seen in history. The major cities will likely be deserted, succumbing to internal gang war, with the patriot and Marxist forces staying well clear.
The war will almost certainly turn nuclear and likely see the population decrease to below 100m. Hopefully that Patriotic side will win and a better world can be built from the ashes of the conflict
A few caveats -
The “other” side is going to have the cash and foreign contacts, disproportionately so. There will be global chaos but they will have most of the negotiable wealth.
They could, depending on the global fallout, import food and hire mercenaries, foreign and domestic, with the wealth and food. The most important thing in war is money.
So there is more complication here.
I think it could be over very quickly if the strategy were to swarm Washington, DC, arrest every traitor in the government and it’s teat-sucking patrons, and fill every lamppost. The elites in Hollywood and Manhattan would think better about pushing the fight further.

In those days, sports clubs had a strong political element, and the major ones were affiliated with a particular color, white, red, blue and green.
For the purposes of comparison, think of the whites as the real right wing extremists. Inconsequential then as now.
The reds would be the conservatives. At the time of the riots, mostly out of power.
The blues would be the liberal Democrats, more numerous and less radical. And,
The greens, the hardcore radical leftists.
Think of these groups back then as now as you read of the riots, and their outcome. Think of the Hippodrome as like the Democratic National Convention.
Based on this model, the Second American Civil War would be rather short-lived.
Well, this is the point of the DJT election. To MAGA in order to avoid such an outcome. I didn’t actually consider the ramifications economically until I read this article. It would not be fun - unless you are already on of those “off the grid” types.
The urban allied centers would be very isolated from one another. For instance Dallas would probably be part of the urban liberal holdings, while the rest of Texas will go rural. Likely the West half of California, Oregon and WA teamed up with Dallas, Chicago, New York, New Jersey and New England.
The real question is what happens with military assets. The liberals will likely retain all the launch codes. Soldiers in the end, are not politicians and are order takers. So I am not confident that many if any would come on over to help the rural confederacy.
I think the big question mark is on military assets.
Liberals will secure Washington DC so will have the nuclear codes.
Soldiers in the end follow orders. So will they stand behind the liberal establishment to put down revolt in the countryside?
Really, most Americans just aren't that into politics (or war), and more power to them.
Farmers aren't that much more into having bloody battles on their land than city folks are.
And this is what the Founders intended -- if by the Founders, you mean the people who wrote the Constitution and put it into effect, rather than those who got the Revolution started.

1. IED’s
2. Mortars
3. RPG 7
4. Sniper Fire
Of the 4 listed above, all Americans have immediate “legal” access to only one. Get one and learn how to use it.
Destroying your enemies center of gravity is vital. The American Left’s Center of Gravity is:

2. The University
3. The Ghetto

A Left vs Right civil war — armed combat at the national level?
Don’t see that happening at all.
Communications, resources, and travel are deeply entwined with the infrastructure and machinery the military would ultimately control. Each side would vie for an alliance with the military while it confronts foreign opportunists. That would be a huge headache for the govt. As such, the govt will ensure there is no civil war.
The true problem is the MSM which is owned primarily by a few major corporations. Naturally, this is never — NEVER — discussed because it’s easier to fantasize about the civil war that will never happen. And no investigative reporter nor radio jock wishes to bite the hand that feeds them.
Disney is about to absorb a significant number of FOX properties controlling a sickening degree of influence. Comcast owns the other significant portion.
I don’t necessarily despise these corps, but their media properties certainly despise the traditional America we’re fighting for.
The “civil war” to be had is with those pissing in your living room.
