BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A California judge has ruled in favor of a Christian baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
The judge denied a motion for a temporary restraining order filed on Wednesday against Cathy Miller, the owner of Tastries Bakery in Bakersfield, California.
According to a press release sent by The Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, the order would have compelled "Miller to create wedding cakes for LGBT persons, even though doing so would violate her sincerely held religious beliefs."

He knows he’ll be reversed at 9th circuit. Wondered if he had any new twist to confound them

Toothpick Charlie...
is widely known for his unusual cakes. Why haven't they gone to him instead of an innocent Christian Baker?

Not “queers” - nor, “gay,” nor “homosexuals” ...
The only correct word we should use to describe them, based upon their chosen behavior, is sodomites.

Similar of course to the case before the USSC now. Which is probably why the judge denied the restraining order. The USSC ruling will be out in a few months, with the potential to moot this particular case. A restraining order would harm the business while waiting for the USSC harms neither the state or the bakery.

We both personally feel that the people should just bake them a cake. They can buy an cake on display I think so why would you force the bake to design a cake with a message. Would you force them to design a special a cake with a KKK message on it?

The Mrs and I have had a few conversations about this. We both personally feel that the people should just bake them a cake. You can't "just bake" a wedding cake, like opening a package of cake mix in your kitchen and popping it in the overn. A wedding cake is a custom order, often quite elaborate and consuming many hours of consulatation and individualized pereparation; and the main part of the product is the design services of the artist.

In Masterpiece Cake Shop, it’s a two-prong argument on behalf of the baker. 1: He has a sincere religious belief that marriage is only between one man and one woman, and 2: Ordering him to create a cake that “celebrates” a same-sex wedding coerces him to express endorsement of something he does not agree with. Without either prong, the baker loses.
People also need to keep in mind that Masterpiece Cake Shop is not a suit between the gay couple and the baker. The full name of case is Masterpiece Cake Shop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. It is the State that is oppressing and coercing the baker. The gay couple legally have no standing in the case.

My suspicions are the same. These are not accidental encounters.
I'm glad more people are noticing this, but this sort of stuff has been going on for decades. And it's not just the gay mafia, it's pretty much all leftist groups. Whenever you've seen a ridiculous landmark case that forces some negative change on American culture, it was almost sure to be the work of some leftwing group who set the circumstances up after shopping for a sympathetic (leftwing) judge and/or jurisdiction. But I'm glad people are catching on.
