China conducted the exercise of mock occupation of Yongbyon nuclear facilities near the end of last year

In preparation for a sudden crisis in North Korea, a large-scale exercise with 100,000 troops was conducted

S. Korea/U.S. agencies such as NIS, JCS, CIA, etc. gathered to assess satellite photos

U.S. to secure plutonium, S. Korea to secure highly-enriched uranium (HEU) in the event of crisis

It is revealed that China conducted a large-scale military exercise at the end of last year for taking over the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon in the event of a sudden crisis in North Korea.

In response, S. Korea and U.S. held a meeting to discuss the plan in which U.S. will secure N. Korea's plutonium and S. Korea, their HEU.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on December 12 (local time), "We told China that we would return to the 38th parallel after we have secured nuclear weapons in North Korea," sparking the speculation of big deal between U.S. and China. This is leading to a flurry of activities among (N. Korea's) neighbors regarding the crisis.

According to the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Joint Chiefs of Staff (NIS) on December 17, an emergency meeting of both ROK and U.S. intelligence agencies was held in Seoul organized by the National Intelligence Service near the end of last year. It was an unusual event in that it was a gathering of not only the NIS, the Ministry of National Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Unification, but also US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and USFK personnel.

At this meeting, the discussion focused on the photos of a (military) exercise in Northeast China taken by spy satellites. Photos showed that Chinese army built the mockup of buildings of the same size and shape as the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon, North Korea, and practiced the mock occupation of the facilities. Approximately 100,000 troops were mobilized for training. Yongbyon has major nuclear facilities of North Korea, including a 5 megawatt (MW) reactor, a 25-30 MW nuclear power plant, a light reactor for laboratory use, uranium enrichment and reprocessing, and nuclear fuel storage facilities. A military source said, "It was unprecedented for the Chinese military to conduct a large-scale exercise for occupying the Yongbyon nuclear facility. Considering the proximity of training location, they are presumed to be troops from the China's Northern Theater Command"

If 100K troops were really involved, it might have been the training for full-scale incursion to N. Korea, of which the occupation of the facilities would be one part.

Yeah the facilities would be a little cramped with 100,000 soldiers :)

Code named “Operation Take Out”. After all, it is a Chinese operation.

We can only convince them that getting in our way will cost them more than staying away.

Thanks for the translation of the story. A fascinating turn of events. Will China and the US together go in to take out NK? Or is it just more mind games being played against Chia Pet? Who knows at this moment. Let us all hope that it all ends as peacefully as can be without Seoul being barraged and the US not hit with a missle. Will it happen before or after the Winter Olympics? After I suppose. But maybe all sides can get it done before the bobsledding.

Look truly at the impact a US/NK war would have on China/US trade. China will act because that would be bad for business.

Fat Boi blackmailing China would also be bad for business, and all of China is in range...

But it is not only love between China and SK:

The Joint Chiefs of Staff pointed out, "Today, at 10:10 am, five airplanes of Chinese nationality were caught entering KADIZ from the west to the west, and our air force flew in an emergency."

The JCS said, "The Chinese nationality aircraft flew through JADIZ (Japan Air Defense Identification Area) and finally departed from KADIZ in the western part of KADIZ even after 1:47 pm via KADIZ."

The Chinese military aircraft entering KADIZ are known to be two H-6 strategic bombers, two J-11 fighters, and one TU-154 reconnaissance aircraft.

China sees a potential for a hapless puppet in current S. Korean government and is try to subjugate them by constantly leaning on them. Sometimes being nice won't pay. It only invites more contempt. I doubt that Moon and his ilks learn from it, though.

They are a pack of dyed-in-the-wool pro-North/anti-American Juche left with Moon as its figurehead. They pretend they are no longer that way, but that is just for show. They never denounced N. Korean regime and have always opposed a legislation for N. Korean human right. Naturally, they would rather side with China than U.S.. But neither China nor N. Korea is cooperating to put on a nice public show they want in order to claim that they are in control of the current situation in Korean Peninsula. To Chinese and N. Koreans, they are the ones in control, and S. Korea just needs to shut up.
