Mr. mm and I went to FL recently for a vacation and we drove.
With what we’ve been hearing about the TSA and airports, we didn’t want to be at their mercy, and then have to rent a car on top of it.
It was a somewhat grueling drive down to SC where my sister lives but we survived it.
On the way back, we stopped at Luray and made a three day trip out of it.
It was far cheaper too, and we could take stuff that we couldn’t take on a flight but would have to waste money buying and leaving when we were there.
Before this horror my driving rule was to drive if the distance was anywhere under 1,000 miles. I’m changing it to anywhere in the US. With my new 2018 Navigator coming in a month or two that won’t be too bad a sacrifice.
Nice if you have the time. I just now back from South Florida. Left late Thursday back now Sunday evening. I make the trip every month to help my aged mother. (My sister flies from Boston in-between my trips.) I hate the hassle of flying but I just couldn't do this without airplanes. (Even flying myself in a small plane takes a full day each way, which is more time than I have.)
And, BTW, heard poor folks headed for Atlanta being given the bad news as I walked to my gate. (But we all have our airport horror stories.)
