You’ve got the right idea, but I find 7.62 more effective.
My dad bought a Ruger 556 that fires both .223 and 5.6. I fired it the other day and it’s sweet. He also has an M1 carbine that the Japanese in the islands during WW2 got familiar with. In either case, no muzzie hold me in fear.
