(CNN)Sources in the Senate tell CNN they have been worried about Sen. John McCain recently, following a week when the Arizona Republican was kept from the Senate to address side effects from his brain cancer treatment.
The sources described McCain as looking increasingly frail and said he has not spoken up in recent GOP meetings the way he had before, in addition to his absence this week for treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center.

If he dies before the tax reform vote, how fast can AZ Governor Ducey name a Republican replacement? Former Governor Jan Brewer would be a perfect choice.
The longer this goes on, the more I am thinking that either be wants to avoid his family, or they don’t really want Jim back. He just really think the American people are his family, and those people in Arizona are more like props to improve his public image. So sad.
“It is not that I dont care, but when can the Arizona Governor announce his replacement, as we need a Trump vote on the Tax bill.”
Probably the same time they seat Jones.
He looked pretty feeble in the recent photos at his daughter’s wedding.
Given his current state, I’ll go with the sooner, not the later. Teddy Kennedy and Bob Novak both lasted about 15 months after they were diagnosed.
Of course there is. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy. A friend of mine has been going through it for quite a while. There is also an experimental treatment that "marks" the cancer cells (tumor) with a protein, and the immune system then attacks them.
The chemo can make you sick, fatigued and depressed.
There is no such thing such as chemotherapy because of the blood/brain barrier, so forget that.
In my friend's case, the chemo is taken orally at home, instead of hours every day in the chemo-chair.
What treatment he has received is to give him possibly six months to a year at the most from diagnosis.
Probably, some live longer.
Give up your seat and resign and enjoy what time you have left with your family, Senator.
I hope he can make it to the final tax cut vote next week.
Wrong.

Wrong.

The primary treatment is to "de-bulk" the tumor to reduce the volume that it imposes on the brain that sits in a fixed volume chamber. About half GBM patients have a second de-bulking surgery to extend survival another 5-6 months. The standard chemo used (BCNU) crosses the blood brain barrier but the glioma is a tough customer. Nevertheless good studies have demonstrated efficacy. Radiation of the site also is proven to extend survival.
Success, however, means extending life by months. Its all about quality of life - if the brain manages to restructure key functions to healthy brain tissue patients can retain pretty good function and those extra months can be priceless.
Thanks for bringing up these incorrect points so reality can be presented.
Or, Sarah Barracudah, I hope somehow he realizes he doesn’t want his very last vote of his life to be one of hate for Trump and Trump supporters. If he votes no, there is no question his “legacy” will be that of a very bitter and vindictive old man.
He has not voiced objections all along, and he has said the bill overall will be “good for the economy and the American people.” To come in at the very last minute on life-support and vote no would be almost unbelievable.
.......believe me, I despise Mccain, he has been a horrible senator and I Don’t trust him either. If he is planning on sabotaging the vote, I hope that he will die before he can vote.
2008 Manchurian candidate. Maybe it’s better the Kenyan won.
The doctors found the first tumor in early July, the second tumor about a month ago. These are his last days, he is actively dying.
Thanks for your update on McCain’s 2d tumor. I missed that one. Do you have a link?
If he votes NO he will die knowing the leftists absolutely adore him, he could care less what Conservatives think of him..remember this is the same guy who allowed his hired goons to TRASH SARAH PALIN, who only wanted to HELP him become President..McCain called Palin a “Cunt” or so I read..and said horrible things about Todd Palin..so yeah my hate for McCain goes way back
Google “McCain Second Tumor”, that will pull up an 11/29 KTAR local news story.
Sorry, I only have access to FR by my phone, it’s hard for me to cut and paste links, etc.
But we need Sen. McCain to destroy the country by supporting the Demorats and mntioning hhis “songbird” days in then North Vietman.
Hey Sarah, I don’t disagree with anything you just said.
McCain is fundamentally a nasty venmous snake. As he dies, he will be dangerously unpredictable.
Sigh.............
If he resigns, then right away. If he lingers, unable to participate, then we lose a republican vote. I know, I know. But SOMETIMES, he votes with republicans. I thought he was going to vote yes on the tax bill. That dirty crook Schumer wants to hold off the vote til Doug Jones is seated. If McConnell allows that, he’ll get hammered. (Not that he cares what conservatives think).
She appears to be another never-Trumper...

McSally, a decorated military veteran and second-term House member who has won in a competitive district and is a strong fundraiser, is seen as the preference of national Republicans and Gov. Doug Ducey.
But her history of criticizing President Donald Trump made her the target of a show-of-force statement from conservative groups that spend heavily in GOP primaries, including the Club for Growth, the Senate Conservatives Fund and FreedomWorks.
He never defended his own running mate..so of course he would NEVER want to do anything to benefit this country
