Republicans fear deep losses in 2018 elections
The Hill ^ | December 13, 2017 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 12/13/2017 6:13:14 AM PST by C19fan

After years of strong gains in states across the country, Republicans now fear they stand to lose hundreds of state legislative seats in next year’s midterm elections if there is a significant voter backlash against President Trump.

Any losses would come at the worst time: Just ahead of the redistricting process that begins with the 2020 census.

There maybe some "backlash" against Trump but there will be a more poerful influence working against Republicans, as congressional candidates, at least, and that is the evermore obvious betrayal of the voters by the Republican Party and its evermore obvious subservience to their Democrat whipholders. Why vote for Democrats just because they claim to be something called "Republicans?" Many Tea Party Conservatives of past elections and others elected to oppose the Progressive takeover of America have eagerly accepted the cash and perks and learned to say "yessir!" to the Democrats. What is the point of even wasting the time and effort to go to the polls? So you successfully elect your guy. So he goes to Washington and he is not your guy from his first day on the job. We do not elect representatives of our districts. Our districts elect representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and of Institutional Washington. We are still allowed to pick which guys to stick the knives in our ribs. it is no better than in countries where the Ruling Party provides the two or three candidates from whom the electorate may choose.

There has been some talk about moving certain federal agencies out of the DC area & closer to the people they serve. Zinke (& Pruitt, I think) are looking at their options. If the swamp can be re-distributed, NOVA might start to thin out with all the Leftists that live there. Most of Virginia is red & not Dem & it’s more than aggravating to have high density blue NOVA & Scott’s district determine the course for the state. Very similar to the Dem strongholds on the coasts & the rest of the country is primarily red.

A lady on Fox last night hit the nail on the head when she said the Republicans are willing to loose the majority in the house and senate if it stops the Trump agenda without them taking the blame.

I don’t think you can draw too many conclusions from the Roy Moore debacle. However, I do think having Women-Accusers come forward (against Rs) will be SOP in most competitive races.

Then keep your promises to the people who voted for you rather than try to be friends with Democrats!

It’s easy, say it with me: keep promises and get reelected, break promises and suffer losses.

As long as bitch McConnell and his crew are in charge, Conservatives will ride in the back of the bus.

As long as Bitch McTurtle and his crew are in charge, Conservatives will be smeared, slandered, disowned, and stabbed in the back.

How about it, Donald? Are you going to let the McConnell and the Swampocrats wreck the Party?

Tammy Bruce said that last night on Hannity. He looked shocked; I don’t know why. It’s pretty obvious.

The national party did nothing to help Roy Moore and now it has regrets??? Of course, they’ll just blame Trump.

GOP deserves to lose big.
They refuse to drain the swamp and stand in The Donalds way at every turn.
GOPers like Mitch and My own senator Marco Rubio are worthless big gubmint a-holes.

Trump was elected by a hair to do some very basic things. They needed to get done quickly, so people would have time to see the results before the next election.

So far his agenda has been slow-walked to the point that, even if it gets done, no one will really see or feel the benefit before November.

That being the case, Repubs should get ready for a shellacking they richly deserve.

The problem is, while they will deserve these deep losses, we don’t. We voted for change, we voted for a rebellion against the establishment, and the establishment doesn’t mind losing a few Repub seats if it means keeping power.

Yup, and they deserve it. I’m not looking forward to impeachment proceedings but that’s probably what the Dems will feel their mandate is. Trump should work hard to finish off the tax reform bill and signed it and then spend the next year destroying the GOP instead of working with them...I’d suggest use the Dems and a few GOP to get infrastructure done. Immigration isn’t happening with this bunch and neither is Obamacare. Stop fundraising for the GOP...Try to take out the GOPe with Dem support...Fight impeachment hard in 2019 and try to get re-elected in 2020 (all the while supporting anti establishment, pro MAGA candidates). Work with reality

More like aren’t welcome on the bus.
Mitch McConnell is worse than a carpetbagger, he’s a COLLABORATOR.

But hey, Jones might vote with them on occasion. So they got that going for them.

Yep, I predict massive losses for Republicans in 2018. As long as McConnell and Ryan are steering the HMS Political Titanic they have assured a collision with an iceberg.

The RINOs won in Alabama and sealed their fate in 2018. I further predict massive fundraising success now for Democrats who now have a full wind in their sails and a lot of momentum. Good job, McConnell, Rove, and Ryan.

Good luck, boys.

I agree with that.

My primary goal has always been to elect good leaders who can make the country better. That’s why I voted for Trump. That’s why I’ve voted straight Republican my entire life.

But I now see that the GOPe is very much in the way of making this country better. I basically do not think it is possible for me to vote for “good leaders who can make the country better”.

My new goal (unless things change, which I do not expect) is to help the GOP die. We need a new party. Trying to get “better Republicans” hasn’t worked out at all. Because the Republican establishment just wants “better Democrats” to win.

I think I’m done playing the game. Let it burn.

The problem is, Rome will be just fine, and will likely grow and become more bloated and oppressive. We, however, will end up in chains.

I think that is the past. Ohe thing I’ve noticed is that a few years ago, billion became the new million. And already, trillion has become the new million. The financial crisis in government (and it’s not just the US) is exponentially worsening. This sort of thing does have a hard end. It doesn’t just go on forever.

“If the Republicans run a bunch more pedophiles and don’t push across any major legislation, they’ll probably be in heap big trouble.”

What you don’t seem to understand, ALL non GOPe candidates will henceforth be accused pedophiles. Every single one of them.

It worked wonders in AL.

You don’t think they’ll give up that particular strategy do you?

Disgust with the Republicans behavior in the House and Senate may have had serious negative impact on the Roy Moore election

Republicans just stayed home.

If the individual mandate that the Dems implemented is not removed by 2018 I’m voting for the Dems. Makes sense. Lol.
