Why the ‘Arab street’ didn’t just explode
NY Post ^ | December 10, 2017 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 12/10/2017 10:03:35 PM PST by Oshkalaboomboom

In the wake of President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital last week, the “experts” crowding the media predicted strategic calamity: Vast, violent protests and a wave of terror would sweep the Muslim world in the coming days.

Instead, the largest demonstration anywhere this weekend was the funeral procession for Johnny Hallyday, the “French Elvis.” Nothing in the Middle East came close.

We have witnessed, yet again, the carefully phrased anti-Semitism of the pristinely educated; the global left’s fanatical pro-Palestinian bias; and the media’s yearning for career-making disasters.

Rather than waves of protest, the waiting world got tepid statements of disapproval from otherwise-occupied Arab governments; demonstrations in the West Bank and the Gaza strip that, combined, barely put a thousand activists in the streets; and yes, four deaths: two demonstrators and two Hamas terrorists hit by an Israeli airstrike.

Sunday did see a smallish protest outside the US Embassy in Lebanon, but it was hardly Benghazi under Barack Obama. Predictably, Turkish president and self-appointed sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan (officially our NATO ally) didn’t miss the chance to spew venom toward Israel, the US and Europe. But even in Turkey things were all quiet on the Bosporus front.

An act of justice for Israel did not ignite Armageddon.

Maybe the Palestinians figured out that even if it did explode nobody would care. An adult showed up who ignores the child's temper tantrums.

Yup - the media's desire for some so-called "Day of Rage" was palpable and disgusting. They were just drooling for the chance to say that Trump had unleashed a catastrophe, their attempts to hype the lackluster response were hilarious, and their disappointment about the lack of explosions and murders was obvious.

The US news media has become a joke, impossible to take seriously.

In the past, the media breathlessly worried about the “Arab street.” They must be sooooooo disappointed now.

The “Arab street” is a an artificial concept kept alive by the ignorant West.

The Arab masses are kept impoverished and ignorant by their leaders whether they be religious or secular so that a revolt will not upset the leadership.

The Arab masses are always in a state of perma-fear, perma-outrage that is why these leaders always use Israel and the Jews (and Christians) as a scapegoat in order to keep the pressure off their corrupt regimes.
Everybody knows this.

Every now and then, if an Israeli accidentally burps near a Paleostinian, the event allows the Arab regimes to purge some pressure from their societies and they run to UN to condemn Israel.

Then, on cue, the streets fill with angry people. They burn Israeli or American flags and effigies of whoever is the current leader in Israel or the States. This is Arab-Islamic street theater.

This routine has been going on since T.E. Lawrence led these rabble on a murderous assault of Turkish Ottoman troops in WWI. Lawrence (and the British government) knew that if they promised the Arabs gold, plunder, rape and general mayhem, that they would fight for the Allies and this is exactly what transpired.

Today, we popularly call the Arab revolts “Intifadas” and tribal in-fighting “Civil Wars” because it’s easier for us to excuse their deplorable behavior which has been going on for 20 centuries or more.

The idea of a day of rage is just OUR excuse for letting them run amok because they are poor little diddums that have no future and live in their societal cesspools, maintained and upheld by their own regimes and brothers.

Keeping the masses down is what Arab regimes are all about and have ALWAYS been about. The leaders keep them in line with harsh punishment and surveillance.

Why are they held to a lesser standard than the rest of us?

Answer: because they are Arabs and we EXPECT more primordial behavior from them hence, it’s OK in a sarcastic sense for them to loot, pillage, be violent and generally “express” their anger. Ask CNN, there’s ALWAYS a reason we Westerners did that “triggers” an outpouring of Arab rage, always. So, they don’t need an excuse to show their rage, it’s a norm with them.

Any Westerner who champions their cause or acts as an apologist for their murderous behavior is nothing short of a ignorant and foolish appeaser, a “useful idiot”.

Any person who has yet to figure this out will fall into their trap, time and time again.

Israel is a Western, Democratic, Liberal, free, advanced society surrounded by near Zombies who seek nothing but their destruction.

It is high time we had an American President who has the balls to speak honestly and openly.

The truth has never been important for Arabs or other Muslims and that is why all your arguing or trying to convince them otherwise is bound to fail. So, take another more realistic course like the one President Trump is now taking. Maybe by doing that he will toss all the known, not-working playing cards into the air in order to start a whole new game and concept. Maybe that will lead to peace where the half-baked “Two-State solution” failed.

As I have posted before:

I think he just took away a high denomination chip wielded by the Pali/Arabs. He just reached out and took it. He will be taking more from their stack. If you don’t sit down and play, your stack will be gone.

Everyone is missing it, it is Shale Oil and Gas.

They were using this as leverage to threaten the west and the protests were meant to push Arab leaders to use that leverage against the West.

It is gone! What’s the point now?

Saudi made the necessary political criticism of this action. This was simply rhetoric. Iran is the major threat to Israel and Saudi. Israel and Saudi need each other. They do cooperate with each other but it is Sub-Rosa.

Oddly, the center of Islam and Judaism are on the same side against Iran. However, neither side can say this publicly. We are living in strange times.

Peters is a jerk but was more of a never Trumper than pro-Hillary. He has been rightly chastised here on FR multiple times for both.

However, he is not a leftist imbecile, shilling the party line no matter what. His credibility varies depending upon the article. This time, his assessment of the “Arab Street” is pretty accurate. The global reaction to the embassy move so far has been much more muted than what foreign policy establishment types predicted.

In theory, at least, the West could push back now against a boycott by oil producers.

And such a boycott would be hard to sustain even on the side of the oil producers. Because they don’t want the Shangri-La to end.

The result was to reveal that this was much ado about nothing.

And the drive-bys are hoping for and counting on death, destruction, and bloodshed on a massive scale so that they can blame Trump.

Plain, simple truths that cause major cognitive dissonance among the ill-informed and most world leaders.
