It has been reported that Ms. Nelson had a case before Judge Moore at some time, and that it was dismissed. She would have a copy of the Ruling.
As is common practice, an assistant or legal clerk would sign or stamp the rulings, but to distinguish them from an original signature they put their initials after the signature. His Clerk was named, I think, Darla Adams, D.A. In 1977 he was an ADA.
Nelson’s divorce was heard by Judge Roy Moore.
Moore’s long time secretary is Delbra Adams.
When Delbra Adams “signed” court papers with Moore’s signature stamp she would initial it- DA.
So Nelson’s divorce papers had Moore’s signature with DA appended to it. Nelson thought it was part of his signature when she copied it onto her yearbook.
The most useful lie of the presser was not the claim that Moore wrote the whole inscription, but rather Nelson claiming never to have interacted with Moore after the alleged assault. In fact, she claimed to have quit her job the next morning so that she would not have to see Moore (supposedly a regular at the restaurant – a claim contradicted by actual regulars) ever again.
The lie claiming Moore wrote the date and venue was a completely unforced error. If she'd simply said she added the two lines after she got home that night, everyone would have shrugged and said, "OK, let's test the ink's age."
