A 29-year-old man has been charged after a snowman holding a rocket launcher was painted on the window of a republican support group's office in Londonderry.

The image included the message: "Wishing you an Explosive Christmas."

It appeared at the office of the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association in Chamberlain Street.

The man has been charged with two counts of permitting display of anything provocative.

The IRA was and is (in its current, more quiet form under other names) a leftist organization from the U.S. point of view. The IRA supported the terrorists of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) and other baddies. The IRA was also supported by university administrators and other leftists in the U.S.A., mostly in locales with more public corruption than others (see Mafia, religious affiliation, etc.).

The IRA is evil.

First, they strip you of your guns.

Then, they strip you of your mind.

“..two counts of permitting display of anything provocative....”

And to think this is the country that stood alone against the Germans in 1940.

Yes, please explain the Irish Republican Army to me.
Are they the same as the Iraqi Republican Guard?

Yes, that is a sarcastic answer.

Just what part of my post would ANY reasonably intelligent person think is serious?

Or am I just downright mistaken thinking YOU may be reasonably intelligent?

Texas has a Paris, an Italy, a Rhome, and a Naples. Petersburg, Paducah, Holland, Bogata, Hebron...a Miami, and a Havana. There's a Detroit and a Nevada. Venus, Rising Star, Vega, and a Milano. An Eden, and a Paradise. A Troy, an Itasca...a Loco, a Ding Dong and a Telephone. Heidelberg, and Memphis. Newark, Omaha, Jamaica Beach, and a Sudan. Two places called 'Los Angeles'; one of them census designated place (pop. 121), and the other an unincorporated community (pop. 20). There's even a Canadian (take that, Oklahoma!).

I checked to see if there was a Londonderry, Texas. Found one. Only an area of Spring, Texas, so not a proper Londonderry. Do have a New London, and a New Berlin though, so there's always that.

Other Texas towns;

Dimebox

Cut and Shoot

Gun Barrel City

Bigfoot

Weeping Mary

Hogeye

Point Blank

Earth

Scurry

Wink

Geronimo

Log Cabin

Happy

Jolly (pop. 172)

Cool (pop. 157)

Blanket (pop. 390)

Nome

Nameless

Uncertain (Population 94)

...and whole bunch other places I forget the names of, or else everybody knows about, such as Mineral Wells, Wichita Falls, Waxahachie, and what they call Dallas down in Houston: "Little D".

"Or am I just downright mistaken thinking YOU may be reasonably intelligent?"

During some moments, yep. Remember some times, when you pushed yourself a few too many days, getting a little under the weather, trying to solve some problems and get a few things done?

Being of sound mind except in matters of humor, I plea temporary, self-induced retardation. And I continue to refuse to acknowledge that aging has anything to do with it or to act my age.

I can understand why the locals might not find it as amusing as we do. Most Americans won’t remember the IRA and “The Troubles”.

We had someone here in SoCal openly raising money for them back in the 70s. I always wondered if it was an FBI sting.

I do, too. We were there for riots and bombings in the early 1980s.
