For all the legitimate criticism of Gloria Allred, she's smart enough to know how to walk the fine line between representing her client and avoiding legal repercussions of the client's misconduct.
Once the Moore people publicly identified the obvious evidence of a phony yearbook signature and called on Allred to preserve the yearbook for a third-party forensic analysis, she knew the jig was up. At that point she probably went back to the client and told her in no uncertain terms that she had to sign an sworn affidavit verifying the authenticity of the book and the signature. At this point, Gloria Allred was operating to cover her own ass, while at the same time giving her client a way to minimize legal exposure.
