Arizona Republican Rep. Trent Franks is expected to resign from Congress, a source with knowledge told Roll Call.
The 8th District congressman did not confirm or deny any plans to resign. He said he expected to make a statement Thursday.
“We will have a statement a little bit later, but that’s all I can tell you right now,” Franks told Roll Call. “The statement will explain.”
It is unclear exactly why Franks is stepping down, but one Arizona Republican said there had been rumors of inappropriate behavior. The Republican said the congressman had apparently been making plans to run for Senate in 2012, but abruptly canceled those plans.
“There’s been rumors swirling around him for years, at least in 2012,” the Republican said. “And if this turns out to be true, there won’t be that many people who are surprised.”

Probably making a fast exit before the list is released giving names of those who used the hush-slush fund.
I am sorry. While the allegations of abusive treatment of women is certainly a big concern, how about the much more evident and unquestionable abuse of the public trust and the public treasure that almost all of them exhibit all the time.
Maybe he too is guilty of sexual misconduct, but it’s amazing that people assume the worst unless you leave DC with a toe tag. Just goes to show how messed up our political system has become.

At least both sides have found something on which they can agree.
No kidding - diddle an individual and it’s suddenly a capital crime. Diddle the public and taxpayers and no one even cares.
I’d rather see McCain and McConnell drummed out of the legislature on ethics charges than Franken or Franks.
(Not that I’m supporting Franken - he should’ve never held office to begin with after stealing the election.)
