P22 is the most famous mountain lion in the world, living in Griffith Park, right in the heart of Los Angeles. He was born in the Santa Monica Mountains, and crossed two of the busiest freeways in America, the 405 and the 101, before he settled in the park. Yet P22 is now trapped, hemmed in by freeways and the urban sprawl, with little chance of ever finding a mate. Now a new documentary film will explore his plight and the development of the wildlife crossing at Liberty Canyon in Los Angeles. Angelenos and local conservationists alike are battling to help P22 and the mountain lions of the Santa Monica Mountains, as they try to raise $50 million dollars, while facing resistance from public ignorance and the spread of rodenticides.

You’re right-but it is still a great idea-my sympathies are with the wildlife and the conservatives in the area-I hope they decide to move to a more tolerant place...

Wow-you were lucky beyond belief-but I’d have done the same thing, I’m pretty sure-it would be almost impossible to lie on the ground with a bear coming at me...

One time when 1st hubby and I were camping with our cub in N Mexico in the mountains, we had gone into the travel trailer to sleep, unaware that the cub had not only left the tailgate of the Suburban down-she also left an open package of Oreos in a metal ice chest in the back. In the wee hours, we heard a commotion and went to a window-there was a big black bear in the back of the vehicle, crushing the ice chest like it was cardboard-it ate the Oreos, then proceeded to claw at the back seat and rip up the carpet in the back of the vehicle looking for more, vocalizing the whole time-then it bent the tailgate on one side before taking its leave of our campsite. I decided then I never wanted to be any closer to a bear in the wild than that-and the cub never left the tailgate down again-or even a crumb of food in there-the damage to the Suburban cost several $1000’s to repair...

A lot of the older Hollywood set are quite comfortably conservative, but are generally kinda quiet about it. They know they’re outnumbered, and have learned how to live in peace with the liberal majority.

Over the years, I worked for a ton of celebrities up there, and most all of them were very decent, down to earth people. Even the libs, believe it or not.

As far as the hills are concerned, they’ve been too densely developed for far to long to convert back to wilderness now.
