For future reference, a garden hose or bucket of ice water works wonders in these situations.

Wow that woman needs to shut up.

No kidding. And she needs to buy a better made car. LOL!

Seriously, the police can't win for losing. She wanted him to shoot the dog (really???). Had the officer done so, he would have been criticized. And then she criticizes the officer because he wouldn't shoot the dog.

This woman needs to study up on Jesus; material goods are not all that is important. You can get the car fixed but seriously? Kill a dog when it is not attacking a human being, just an inanimate object? The officer did the right thing and I hope the owner keeps better control of his or her pet from now on.

Again, get a better car, lady. If that dog was able to do that much damage so quickly, you are probably driving something that would lose in any sort of collision and your life is probably in danger.

I have sympathy for her regarding the car damage, but to have the cop blasting away? No.

As other FReepers suggested, a hose, the car panic button for the horn, ... Don’t have to have the cops shooting everything in sight at the drop of a hat. If he missed, a ricochet could maim or kill someone across the parking lot.

I think so too. I don’t like it when other cops just blast dogs at the drop of a hat, so I’ll give this guy kudos for keeping a cool head.

She can file a claim with her insurance company for vandalism and they can go after the dog owner, or she can in a civil case.

Exactly. The ice water would startle the dog, sending negative reinforcement; and, in the case of my Black Lab, the hose would provide hours of fun, completely distracting her. LOL!

You and the other FReepers are absolutely right. That beeping noise and flashing lights would have scared the dog away.

Take care, FRiend. Still love your screen name. ;)

Did it happen in a barking lot?

I've got to say, especially given your screen name ;), that is pretty funny. :)

The cats were probably there trying to catch the mice that were eating the insulation off the wires.

Cats crawl into engine compartments in the fall and winter to get warm.

Then, depending on their location, they rapidly accelerate to 1,500 - 2,000 RPM upon engine re-start.

Great fun.

Thanks. I didn’t see that written and had the volume off, as well. Eyes only did cause me to reason there was something lively or lickity good behind that voracious bumper chewing and the wagging tails. Thx.
