WASHINGTON — Representative John Conyers Jr., who faces allegations that he sexually harassed former employees, announced Tuesday that he will leave Congress immediately, and he endorsed his son, John Conyers III, to replace him.
Mr. Conyers, the longest-serving current member of the House and the longest-serving African-American in history, called into a local radio show on Tuesday to break the news.
“I am retiring today,” Mr. Conyers said from a hospital in Michigan. “I am in the process of putting together my retirement plans. I will have more on that soon.”
He continued to deny that he has harassed any of his former employees and said he did not know where the allegations came from.
“My legacy can’t be compromised or diminished in any way by what we are going through now,” Mr. Conyers said. “This too shall pass. My legacy will continue through my children.”

I have done my part for civil rights, by keeping old stereotypes alive. Without it, we could not perpetuate the accusation of racism in the wake of a two-term black President and all of the progress that African Americans have made in the past half century. Then what would happen to affirmative action and minority set asides? What would happen to the Democratic Party, if wealthy football players stopped taking a knee and started voting GOP? So, to keep hope alive, with Redd Fox long dead and buried, somebody had to act like a horny old goat who can’t keep it in his pants, and with Amos and Andy off the air, somebody had to act like a larcenous schemer, and I had to be that man, so that we could keep calling The Man racist. The whole country was depending on me, and I could not in good conscience let them down. Thank you for the best years of my life. G-d bless America. Goodbye.

What is REALLY disgusting is if they want to ‘condemn’ one, then condemn ALL of them, not just a select few.
Try taking over the ‘cities’ and say that ALL streets referring to Malcolm X, ML King Jr etc draw crime so we will have to rename them.
Of course if you get a ‘local government’ to be thinking in that vein, you will also lose the ‘sanctuary/welfare city’ status.
Another post today mentions how the homeless rate (That apparently was ZERO the last 8 years) is growing in cities.
Well, declare your city a ‘sanctuary city’, or ‘welfare paradise’ and don’t be surprised what starts showing up on the steps of City Hall...
Got to start Gerrymandering the zones to fix it so the POLITICIANS have to live in the zones they represent.
Then crack down on the illegal voters.
Then make it so you can’t donate to a candidate unless he/she/it will be directly representing you.
What we need is a takedown the MLK statues and streets. He was the consummate sexual harasser, a phony preacher, and, as we know there must be seperation of church and state.
