Yes it would be in everyone's best interest if Puerto Rico went their own way.

They have nothing in common with America. They don't share the same traditional values or work ethic. They don't share the same language or heritage. They are a Johnny-come-lately turd world accidental acquisition due to a ridiculously stupid war.

Just like with slavery, we are still paying the price with nothing in return. Puerto Rico will be a perpetual lead weight around America's ankles.

That pretty well sums it up for me also.

Look, I’d like to expand our borders, if an area considered were consistent with our ideals.

It’s the main problem I have with recent immigrants as well.

They do not wish to become “American”. They want us to make accommodations for them, and not become one with us.

To hell with that notion.
