Turkey warns US of 'major catastrophe' if Trump moves embassy

The Turkish government has warned the US that it could spark a “major catastrophe” if President Trump follows through on his 2016 campaign promise to relocate the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The warning was made Monday during a press conference held by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag.

During the televised statement, Bozdag warned the US against either relocating its embassy or even recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, claiming that any change in the status quo could cause a “catastrophe”.

"If the status of Jerusalem is changed and another step is taken... that would be a major catastrophe.”

"It would completely destroy the fragile peace process in the region, and lead to new conflicts, new disputes and new unrest."

Bozdag also claimed that any moves to change the status quo vis-à-vis Jerusalem, including mere recognition of the city as Israel’s capital, would benefit "neither Israel ... nor the region."

"It would not benefit anything. Rather than open new doors, it would drag the region into a new disaster."

More pressure on DJT to cave. If he does cave, it will be a major victory for Islam and signal that DJT will so nothing to help Israel when the Iranians and their allies cross into the Golan.

There is no “fragile” peace process in the ME. Every time some sort of agreement on anything is reached, the PA government (such as it is) backs away.

That was tried more than once. 1812, 1914, 1942. America is too big to stay out of things. The world has to be managed so that it doesn’t constantly need to be bailed out, or it will keep biting America in the ass every Monday and Thursday (Yiddish expression).

The more they protest, the more imperative it gets.

> We need to pull out of NATO period. Let Europe defend itself. <

Yep. In 1949 much of Western Europe was still in ruins. And the Soviets still had a huge army in the field. Neither of these is true today. The US should withdraw to merely an observer status in NATO.

Can’t move the embassy to Jerusalem. Might make the muzzies mad. Then they’d really, really hate us and want to kill us. Oh wait. They already hate us and want to kill us. Move it.

That might be a good thing. Do you really want soldiers going out on liberty to Istanbul and turning up on beheading videos two weeks later, with signs of torture. They can’t be trusted to host US forces.

It’s mission is changed. It’s a counter to radical Islam now. Its structure and capabilities need to be modified, since this is no longer straightforward combat capability and deterrents, but more intelligence gathering and covert ops. But I wouldn’t moth ball any carriers or armor any time soon.

Better than leaving them in place and having to worry about suicide trucks ramming the gates, knifings in alleys, sabotage...

But then they’ll really hate and want to kill Americans and Israelis, and be hopping mad and raring to do stuff. So to keep them calm, you must not move the Embassy, so they will only hate and want to kill sometimes. That way they’ll be moderates. Keep them moderate. Just do what they say and nobody gets hurt more than usual.

Not sure you all get it,
but Erdogen is _threatening_ USA.

Terror is a weapon
which the globalists and Islamists use to shape behavior, and punish nations when they don’t do what they were shaped to do.

Duh.
