Mahmoud Al-Habbash, a senior adviser to Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas, on Saturday declared that an American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital will destroy the peace process.
His comments followed reports that U.S. President Donald Trump could recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as soon as Wednesday.
“Any American declaration of recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel – if there is one – would mean total destruction of the peace process," said Al-Habbash, who was quoted in Israeli media.
“The whole world will pay a price for any change or harm to the political reality of Jerusalem,” he warned. The Yediot Aharonot newspaper noted that Al-Habbash made the comments with Abbas standing at his side, meaning that Abbas fully backed the remarks.
“The Arab states stand by us, especially Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and the entire Arab-Islamic nation is united in one position,” Al-Habbash further claimed.
Hamas also responded to the reports earlier on Saturday, calling for a new "intifada" if Washington recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel or moves its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
"We warn against such a move and call on the Palestinian people to revive the intifada if these unjust decisions on Jerusalem are adopted," Hamas said in a statement.

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. Arafat was communistic most of the time, and only started quoting the Koran when it suited him, and running a murder-the-Jooos! gang was only highly remunerative to him because he made tons of money off his protection racket with the Saudis, the Europeans, the UAE, Bahrain... He only started making money off the Americans with his murder-the-Jooos! gang after Oslo. And all that wouldn’t have been highly remunerative to him if he were a sincere communist, instead of a corrupt exploiter of suicide bombers, who sent so much money to Switzerland instead of the murder-the-Jooos! gang coffers where it would have done the most bad.
The Arabs have been using (very effectively;y) scare tactics for the last 100 years and the West always falls for their lies and distortions.
The Paleostinian and Arab way is to threaten and intimidate you into thinking that the “powder keg is about to blow” and each and every turn in trying to find a solution. Note the Arab rhetoric right now.
If the Paleostinians (and Arab world) really wanted peace it would have happened in 1993 with Arafart and Oslo but, the truth the West has been ignoring since time immemorial is that the Arabs are neither ripe or ready fr peace of any kind. They have no concept of Peace, order, stability, Democracy, free thought, consent and everything that powers Western, Liberal Democracies like Israel.
So, until such time that the Arabs grow up, stop bellyaching and asking for trillions of Dollars in handouts to fund their terror operations, there will be no peace.

There could have been peace after 1967, at least within Israel. At the time, the Arabs in Judah and Samaria were elated that though utterly defeated they weren’t slaughtered en masse by vengeful Jooos! who remembered what was done in Gush Etzion in 1948 and in Hebron in 1929. Instead, they were treated leniently, and an impartial police force kept a fair and just peace between warring Arab families and clans for the first time in centuries. When the PLO arrived and tried to set up a base in Judah and Samariah, the Arabs living there refused to tolerate their presence. Over time that changed, and after Oslo things went downhill fast.
When did Abbas genuinely asked for peace? I suggest that the more we push ahead against their wishes, the more peace we get from them as they have something to fear
