Investigators have recovered a body in a creek believed to be 3-year-old Mariah Woods, officials said Saturday.
District Attorney Ernie Lee told reporters that divers recovered the body in neighboring Pender County, about 25 miles from Mariah's home in Jacksonville. He added that they were awaiting a medical examiner's report to determine the official cause of death.
The body was found hours after Earl Kimrey, the live-in boyfriend of Mariah's mother, was arrested and held on $1 million bond. He is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property. Prosecutors are reviewing whether additional charges should be filed.

AND- the majority of these women don’t have even a high school education—no skills—cannot support themselves—depend on welfare—and will take up with ANYONE who will ‘support’ them.
All of which are more reasons why it is important to keep yourself from getting pregnant & stay in school—at least thru high school. When you have no employable skills, you are behind a very large 8-Ball.

Good catch. I believe Scott Peterson made the same mistake and referred to Lacie in the past tense before anyone knew she was dead.
So true, one could even conclude that a large minority of “mothers” are simply unable to find a decent “boyfriend.”
If Guilty,
shoot him, no chance for parole.
Again we see where the Bible is right: in the last days “the love of many shall wax cold.”
You’re much more reasonable than I am. Autopsy? A baby is dead. Evidence? Thrown in a creek like a piece a garbage. Charge them all!
I have read so many stories similar to this and I can’t help thinking of how crazy this is. There are so many single mothers with vulnerable children who just can’t exist without a man, any man, in her bed every night. Often she is the bread winner and the guy keeps the children which in itself tells you a lot about him. And, as in this case, the live-in boyfriend is the usual doer of these nefarious crimes.
This used to be a problem that existed only in the poorest, least educated corners of American society. With the thin veneer of civilization rapidly wearing away, it has become a lot more common. Western Europe has seen the same devolution.

Only if they survive the most dangerous place in the world: the womb. More women kill their babies every day than are murdered by boyfriends in a year.
Not to excuse this inhuman animal. Thank God, he will someday face the true judgment.
I have been substitute teaching and it is disheartening to piecemeal the living conditions of some of these poor children especially the ones with the live-in boyfriend. Sleaze at its finest to say the least not to mention illicit habits.
