Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCares individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step forward toward ending an unpopular part of the healthcare law.
Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them not the government, Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.

By encouraging insurers to provide cheaper and even better catastrophic policies the number of insured might actually increase
And ObamaCare bites the dust. All that jackbooting by the Democrats came to naught.
The conference is the next step. That’s how it should go.
Thanks ItsOnlyDaryl.
The mediots will portray that as denying healthcare [insurance] to billions and trillions of innocent women, children and undocumented Americans.

Why, that’s just CRAZY talk!!!! /liberals screaming at sky
A bit of schadenfreude involved .... the Dems had their panties in a wad that this was a TAX bill and the Obamacare mandate shouldnt be part of it .... until they were reminded that Judge Roberts ruled the [s]hared responsibility payment under the Affordable Care Act is a tax and not a penalty so as to twist the unconstitutional into something that could be forced down Americas throat. Roberts ruling finally came back to bite the Dems & the ACA in the butt.
Can then go to conference, reconcile the differences then try and pass it and if it falls just pass the one that passed the Senate?
I’m not sure, but I thought about that as well.
States with high taxes and many extremely wealthy people will move more and more in the direction of having only the wealthy elite and the dependent on taxpayers (welfare or govt jobs) living there. Middle class wage earners and small business owners cannot affort housing already in these states and will continue to move to red states. Unfortunately, they often bring their liberal ideas with them.
and the super rich like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Jeff Bezos.

According to the comments at the above link, Rand Paul is responsible for killing the individual mandate. I’ve been critical of Paul, but I give him massive credit for this. He delivered big time.
Works for me! :-)
In your face, John Roberts! Too bad this mandate repeal isn’t retroactive.
only 2 things really matter:
1: Repeal Obamacare mandate
2: Remove State and local Tax exemption
The 3rd cuting corporate taxes will shift more of the coorpations from personal owner income taxes to corporation taxas and on paper take away from liberals the argument of stratification of America by making the ‘rich’ look less rich.
But #1 will liberate people currently being driven into the poor house by Obamacare although it will also help crash the already crashing industry under its oppressive insurance provider mandates.
#2 is what will really make things better by forcing State and local governments under democrat control to start cutting their oppressive spending, while driving much of their industry to Republican controlled areas and states.
This in turn will lead to de-urbanization and greater republication. People who live in less dense areas tend to vote more conservative.

Who will all be profusely grateful for being so denied.
South Florida is yankee. I remember working dairies in the Panhandle and hearing dialect so thick you could cut it with a knife. But South of Orlando is gone.
Highlands County is south of Orlando and very Red!
Must have never gone through it on my way between Broward and Seminole/Orange Counties.
